
Deposit Operations Specialist

Overview of the Role
The Deposit Operations Specialist is responsible for the daily processing, tracking, and investigating deceased accounts, including departmental support involving ACH, payroll and share draft returns, and other operational-type work.
Responsibilities
- Primary job role is the daily processing of deceased accounts.
- Primary phone support for department.
- Maintenance of PFP program -- including inquiries, adjustments, monthly sweep for remitting funds to Security Mutual & Trustmark.
- Daily ODP fee reversals.
- Maintain and update travel log.
- Bank wire verification.
- To be the primary backup for ACH processing, share drafts, and mail processing.
- Process SSA and Medicaid online verification requests.
- Collect, process, and present all RDIs to manager for review.
- To process manual payrolls, including maintenance, inquiries and adjustments.
- Investigate Falcon alerts and follow up calls.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Expectations
- To perform tasks in a timely manner with a high degree of accuracy.
- To keep all assigned general ledger accounts current and in daily balance.
- To provide support within and outside the department.
- To provide superior member service at all times through phone contacts and by ensuring member confidentiality and going above-and-beyond to make the member experience at GPO of the highest quality.
Qualifications
- Up to six months of similar or related experience.
- A high school education or GED.
- Must have good communication skills.
- Should be proficient in the use of computers, various software programs and calculators.
Physical Demands
- Sitting for prolonged periods of time
- Frequent computer usage and screen time
- Frequent typing and use of fine motor skills
Decision Making
- To exercise sound judgement when making decisions, in the absence of management, as they relate to position duties and the credit union’s policies and procedures.
Financial Responsibilities
- To be responsible for safeguarding the credit union’s assets by ensuring that policies and procedures are followed.
Communication
- Must keep manager, supervisor, and co-workers informed regarding key issues and respect the chain of command when issues arise.
