Job Summary
The Registry Support Associates performs case-finding/screening to identify all reportable cancer patients and completes annual follow-up on all patient’s in the Registry Database.
Position Expectations
Meet productivity standards and quality benchmarks while assuring the confidentiality, accuracy and timeliness of all cancer-related health information encountered.
Abides by all Savista/client HIPAA and other privacy requirements and regulations.
Maintains compliance with client’s reporting policies and procedures.
Participates in training, CEU activities and continuous learning initiatives.
Supports Savista’s Compliance Program by adhering to policies and procedures pertaining to HIPAA, FDCPA, FCRA, and other laws applicable to Savista’s business practices. This includes Savista’s Code of Ethics.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities (may include)
Screen all client sources to identify reportable/reportable by agreement/state reportable/and not reportable cases according to the CoC and state case ascertainment requirements - automated or manual case-finding processes.
Ensure that all reportable cases are identified.
Correct all errors identified during Savista quality review.
Enter complete follow-up information on disease status, vital status, recurrence, subsequent treatment or other data elements as required by contract.
Run reports independently to populate daily work list.
Prepare productivity reports as requested.
Initiate and/or maintain follow-up and/or outcome information for all cancer cases in registry in accordance with the Hospital and Commission on Cancer (CoC) requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills
High school diploma required – GED equivalent.
Completed courses in Medical Terminology
Self-starter with the ability to work effectively within the role, independently and with other team members.
Ability to organize and complete work in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
Effective communication skills with supervisors and peers and appropriate communication with clients.
Ability to multi-task and be flexible to adjust assignments as priorities change.
Must be able to meet deadlines and work with time constraints.
Knowledge of latest guidelines from standard setters (CoC, SEER, and NAACCR), and the ability to apply them accurately.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Skills but Not Required
Associate’s Degree or equivalent preferred.
Medical records experience preferred. Work experience in the oncology field is a plus.
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and cancer disease processes preferred.
ODS-C eligible
HIM Credential – RHIT, CCS, CCA, MT
Other Requirements
High-speed internet access and experience with remote access, set-up, and troubleshooting technical issues. Secure home office HIPAA compliant.
This position is remote but may be required to be onsite as needed.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Note: Savista is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The annual range for this role is from $19 - $23. However, specific compensation for the role will vary within the above range based on many factors including but not limited to geographic location, candidate experience, applicable certifications, and skills.
