GENERAL OVERVIEW:
The Associate Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) role provides hospital specific leadership over nursing services to lead direct reports in delivering high quality care to patients while assisting in the development of Allegheny Health Network’s (AHN) strategic plan. This position reports directly into the hospital’s Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Acts as a clinical and operational role model by adhering to nursing standards, quality of service, professional conduct and applying consistent application of all policies and procedures (10%)
Provides leadership, in collaboration with the hospital CNO, in providing leadership of all employees within reporting scope that engages them in active participation in ownership of goals resulting in decisions that impact clinical and operational decisions (10%)
Provides leadership, in collaboration with the hospital CNO, in maintaining necessary regulatory and compliance approvals and quality accreditations (10%)
Partners with hospital and ambulatory physicians to ensure seamless clinical care and collaborates with hospital leadership to identify, develop and execute clinical care of current and future programs (10%)
Creates an engaged clinical environment that results in high retention and recruitment (10%)
Develops and communicates a strategy supporting a robust staffing plan, standards of patient care and services that meet patient care delivery needs of the organization (10%)
In collaboration with the hospital CNO, develops and manages the nursing budget, ensuring staffing standards are met to meet patient needs (5%)
In collaboration with the hospital CNO, manages costs through data management and identification of opportunities that result in elimination of non-value added costs (5%)
Assists the hospital CNO in establishing standards for nursing practices and maintain authority, accountability and responsibility for nursing services (5%)
Collaborates with executive nursing in the development of patient care programs, policies and procedures that describe how nursing care is assessed, delivered and evaluated (5%)
Provides support and guidance to staff as the senior resource person by making frequent rounds in all hospital areas (5%)
Ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations related to nursing services (5%)
Planning and providing nursing care interventions and prevent complications, promote improvement and patient comfort and wellness (5%)
Serves as a member of the Executive Nurse Leadership Council of Allegheny Health Network (5%)
Other duties as assigned or required
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum
Master’s degree in Nursing
5 years clinical leadership/progressive management experience
Current State of PA RN licensure OR Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)
National ANCC, AACN, AONE, or CCI certification within 12 months of hire
CPR – American Heart Association
Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
