Infrastructure Platform Engineer | eBike (f/m/div.)
Job Description
At Bosch eBike Systems, we are shaping the future of connected and intelligent cycling. Our mission is to build smart, secure, and sustainable solutions that transform the riding experience for millions of people worldwide.
As our software ecosystem grows in complexity, we are transforming how we test: moving from isolated hardware setups to One Big Virtual Device Farm — a unified, software-defined infrastructure where developers and testers across global sites can access hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) environments as seamlessly as cloud resources.
As an Infrastructure Platform Engineer, you will help turn our physical test infrastructure into a scalable, automated, cloud-like platform. Working at the intersection of hardware and software, you will enable reliable, always-available test environments that support faster development cycles and dependable daily releases.
Your contribution to something big:
- Remote Provisioning & Zero-Touch Automation: Design and implement automated workflows for remote OS deployment and configuration of Raspberry Pi devices using PXE, systemd, and Ansible.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Configuration Management: Develop, maintain, and scale configuration management solutions for globally distributed test environments using Ansible and Python.
- Virtualization & Platform Operations: Administer, optimize, and scale on-premises virtualization platforms (e.g., Proxmox VE) to host critical services and virtualized test environments.
- Linux Systems Engineering & Security: Act as a Linux expert by optimizing kernel performance, tuning system behavior, and managing secure networking configurations (e.g., iptables/nftables).
- Edge Infrastructure Services: Deploy and maintain essential infrastructure services such as DHCP, DNS, PXE, and HTTP, ensuring reliable operation of the hardware fleet.
- Monitoring, Observability & Reliability: Build and maintain monitoring and alerting systems (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana) to ensure high availability and performance of the test infrastructure.
What distinguishes you:
Education
- Master’s degree (MSc) or PhD in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience
Experience
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering, infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, or similar roles
- Experience operating and improving infrastructure in an international, distributed setup is a plus
Know how
- Linux Expertise: Strong experience in Linux systems administration (systemd, networking, security, performance/kernel tuning)
- Virtualization / Containerization / Storage: Experience with Proxmox VE; container technologies such as Docker; basic local DBMS management
- Automation & Scripting: Solid experience with Ansible, plus scripting in Python and Shell
- Networking & Core Services: Understanding of VLANs, PXE boot, and deploying services like DHCP, DNS, and HTTP
- Monitoring & Observability: Experience with Prometheus and Grafana (or similar tooling)
Languages
- Fluent in English and Portuguese (preferably)
Working Style and Methods
- Hands-on, structured approach to problem solving with a strong focus on automation, comfortable collaborating effectively across teams
Personality
- Curious and proactive, motivated to explore new technologies and challenge the status quo
