About the Role

The incumbent acts as the product owner/manager, responsible for defining, prioritising and managing the product backlog to ensure delivery excellence. This includes program oversight, financial management, stakeholder engagement and customer satisfaction.

He/She is accountable for the end-to-end delivery of prioritised user stories and for ensuring alignment with business processes and application systems. The role requires effective communication, coordination and influence across multiple stakeholders (including Technology teams, third-party vendors, Group and Business units).

The incumbent must demonstrate strong organisational skills, the ability to multitask in a complex environment, and strong interpersonal capabilities.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning (10%)

  • Formulate and drive the short- and mid-term strategic plans of the unit, aligned to Technology and business objectives

  • Drive continuous improvement within the technology portfolio under his/her purview

  • Participate in Technology leadership forums and ensure alignment and cascading of key messages to the team

  • Engage and influence business stakeholders during planning sessions to align delivery and support

Portfolio Management (10%)

  • Plan, manage and optimise portfolio investment and funding aligned to the backlog

  • Co-own business and technology OKRs for the portfolio

  • Manage total cost ownership for technology operating costs within the portfolio

  • Lead portfolio reporting, communication and stakeholder updates (e.g. OneView)

  • Facilitate Big Room Planning sessions for portfolio review and prioritisation

  • Define optimal workstreams to support delivery outcomes

  • Manage and influence senior stakeholders, partners and vendors to ensure consistent and effective delivery

Product Management (40%)

  • Drive business case development and approvals aligned to backlog priorities, maximising ROI

  • Own workstream planning, financial management and stability of product delivery

  • Define and maintain the product roadmap (quarterly)

  • Prioritise backlog based on business needs and evolving requirements

  • Manage third-party vendors to ensure delivery outcomes

  • Translate business and functional requirements into system solutions

  • Optimise and manage resource allocation across product managers and engineering teams

Delivery Management (25%)

  • Provide product direction, clarifications and decision-making to ensure timely delivery and alignment

  • Review and accept/reject deliverables based on defined criteria

  • Continuously refine the product backlog based on evolving business needs and feedback

  • Manage operating costs and capital expenditure effectively

People Development & Management (15%)

  • Attract, develop and retain high-performing talent to build sustainable capabilities

  • Set clear goals and expectations, translating strategy into actionable plans

  • Develop future leaders and high performers through structured learning and development

  • Promote a strong culture of quality, discipline and continuous improvement

  • Optimise resource planning and utilisation to support business demand

  • Coach and mentor team members on both technical and soft skills

  • Drive performance management and development planning aligned to strategic goals

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Value Creator: Ability to align enterprise strategy with digital product roadmaps using data-driven insights

  • Value Creator: Ability to lead through ambiguity and navigate complex environments effectively

  • Business Operator: Demonstrates resilience and commitment to achieving high standards

  • People Developer: Ability to inspire trust, influence stakeholders and build strong team engagement

  • Degree in IT or related field from a recognised institution

  • 7–8 years of experience in Product Management or Software Engineering, with 5–8 years in a supervisory role

  • Proven experience in delivering solutions through the software development lifecycle with strong project management discipline

  • Strong presentation and documentation skills (e.g. Microsoft Office tools)

  • Experience in delivering IT projects with strong understanding of applications, data and technology implementation

  • Strong communication skills, with ability to engage stakeholders across all levels (internal and external)

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with an innovative mindset

  • Experience in the insurance domain, including product delivery and campaign launches

  • Independent, self-motivated and able to work effectively in a team environment
