Job Description

The Campus Rec Coordinator is responsible to provide and oversee effective operations for respective Campus Recreation administration, programs, and/or facilities during set work hours. The Coordinator will provide direction to part time and/or student workers by supervising tasks, monitoring performance, and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures. They are responsible for maintaining safety, reducing risk, and executing job specific functions.

JOB SUMMARY

The Facilities Coordinator is responsible for maintaining function and cleanliness of fitness facilities and equipment within Campus Recreation. These facilities include LaHaye Recreation and Fitness Center and David’s Place.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for day to day operational tasks to ensure seamless function of LaHaye Recreation and Fitness Center and David’s Place including: monitoring and maintaining fitness equipment, conducting facility cleaning and monitoring cleanliness, reporting maintenance issues, and communicating with vendors.
  • Assists in development and maintenance of the equipment lifecycle plan.
  • Assists in the maintenance and adherence of risk management procedures and policies, ensuring compliance with University policies.
  • Assist with documentation and reporting of incidents and injuries.
  • Document, track, and report program statistics and objectives progress in the area of facility cleanliness and equipment downtime.
  • Make purchases and recommendations for departmental assets or expenses.
  • Frequently oversee and assist with events or operations during evening, nights or weekend hours.
  • Remain up to date on industry standards and performance benchmarks and ensure that fitness facilities remain effective and current.
  • Perform all other tasks assigned by the Director of Fitness Facilities.
  • Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission.

Driving Requirements

  • To obtain LU-approved driver certification, individuals must be 21 years of age or older, possess a valid driver’s license with a minimum of five (5) years of documented driving history, and maintain a clean driving record.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

This position is responsible for 10 student employees

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS

Required Qualifications:

  • Four-year college degree from an accredited university
  • Current CPR/AED/First Aid certifications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, problem solving ability, and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Facility management experience
  • Certified Pool Operator

Driving Requirements

Use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) is required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position.  Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.

Physical and Sensory Abilities

  • Frequently required to travel to local and campus locations.
  • Occasionally required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard. 
  • Frequently required to perform maintenance and cleaning tasks in the facility.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the facility.
  • Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.
  • Regularly lift 75 or fewer pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work Environment

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is split between a climate-controlled office setting and outdoor facilities. Both areas are well lit and the noise level is moderate.

Driving Requirements

Regular hours for this position during spring and fall semesters will be 3:00pm-11:00pm
