We are looking for a Senior Consultant - Manager to join our growing team in Shanghai. Specifically, we are looking for someone with prior management consulting experience, particularly in our heritage discipline, competitive intelligence.

Purpose of the Role:

The Senior Consultant - Manager manages the delivery of client project(s), ensuring delivery of the projects are in line with client objectives and expectations as well as the project timelines. Working closely with the Head of China the Project Manager (PM) serves as the key point of contact for the project, manages the client relationship throughout the term of the project and manages the Deallus project team.

The Senior Consultant/ Manager role should be prepared to be flexible to serve as a member of other project teams where valuable, supporting the delivery of projects by conducting research, analysing findings to generate insights and pulling together client deliverables. On the other hand, they should also be prepared to work with clients to effectively scope projects, developing strong relationships internally and externally to ensure ongoing commercial success. As a senior presence in Shanghai, the Senior Consultant needs to fulfill a key team leadership function in Shanghai by driving the development, engagement and motivation of Associate employees.

Key Accountabilities:

Client and Account Management

  • Manages regional accounts or sections within large global accounts.
  • Manages client relationships whilst ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project and identifying areas for future account growth.
  • Acts as the key point of contact for the client on the project, addressing any questions / concerns and flagging issues with the Client Lead as appropriate.
  • Leads project status, updates meetings, both internally and externally.
  • Builds relationships with the client and project team through delivering quality work, regular follow-ups and updates, etc.

Project Management

  • In partnership with the Head of China, drafts a robust project plan, including key milestones / delivery points, accurately forecasting resource and capacity and identifying potential project risks
  • Manages projects to ensure seamless delivery of the project in line with client timelines and expectations, including regular communication with the project team
  • Identifies project risks and puts in place plans to mitigate these.
  • Oversees the production of all deliverables and ensures robust analysis and commercial application of all analysis to client context, i.e. by using a range of strategic frameworks, conceptualizes complex data into simplistic, digestible and meaningful insights for clients.
  • Actively ensure expenses and costs are aligned with the project plan / budget and manage delivery of project within project budget.
  • Conducts project reviews and provides formal feedback at the close of every project (or at contract renewal for monitoring projects) to ensure key learnings from the project are captured.

People Management

  • Acting as a Development Manager, ensures the continual development of team members by aligning development needs to project deliverables and facilitating a feedback culture
  • Manages all aspects of performance of team members and reports to include performance management, performance review, development and career planning, etc.
  • Ensures team members are well utilized (i.e. people are spending their time in the right way)
  • Role models the Deallus values and key behaviors.

Key Technical Skills / Experience:

  • Experience managing complex projects which are strategic in nature.
  • Management experience (desirable)
  • Highly proficient in MS Office (to include Excel and PowerPoint).

Key Behavioral Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to build relationships both internally and externally at all levels.
  • Strong people management skills.
  • Ability to manage difficult conversations with ease.
  • Excellent communication skills, to include writing and presentation skills.
  • Possesses an in-depth understanding of the life sciences / pharma industry particularly within China, to include recent trends, developments and current challenges.

Experience:

  • Experience:
    • Senior Consultant: at least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Degree(s): BA/BS/MS/PhD
    • Major(s): Life Sciences
