Director/Senior Director, Corporate Controller

We are seeking a Director / Senior Director, Corporate Controller to help lead the accounting function during a critical period of growth and integration. This role will own all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls, and will be a key partner to Finance leadership and executive stakeholders. This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced, evolving biotech environments and enjoys building scalable processes.

Reports to: SVP, Finance

Location: Remote (U.S.)

Responsibilities:

• Lead all aspects of monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
• Oversee preparation of GAAP-compliant financial statements
• Oversee technical accounting areas (equity, stock-based comp, clinical trial accruals, M&A accounting, etc.)
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting in a clinical-stage biotech environment
• Support SEC reporting processes (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K)
• Own the relationship with external auditors and tax advisors, managing the successful completion of quarterly reviews, annual audits and tax filings
• Design, implement, and maintain SOX-ready internal controls
• Drive continuous improvement of systems, accounting policies and procedures to support efficiency, compliance, and growth 
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and evolving regulatory requirements
• Support post-acquisition integration efforts, including systems, policies, and reporting alignment
• Lead accounting for complex transactions (e.g., equity financing, mergers, stock-based structures)
• Lead and develop a high-performing accounting team; promote continuous learning, cross-training and career development 
• Serve as a strategic advisor to Finance leadership on accounting implications

Requirements:

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Combination of Big 4 (or equivalent) + industry experience strongly preferred
• Prior experience in biotech, life sciences, or clinical-stage companies highly preferred
• Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP
• Advanced proficiency in NetSuite strongly preferred
• Strong experience with:
• Equity accounting & stock-based compensation
• Complex transactions (e.g., mergers, PIPE financings)
• Clinical trial accounting/accruals
• Experience building or improving internal controls/SOX frameworks
• Builder mentality—comfortable creating structure
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to operate strategically
• Excellent cross-functional communication skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, high-growth startup environment

Compensation Range: $250,000 - $315,000 (actual compensation may vary based on experience, qualifications and location)
