Job Description

Job Summary: 

The Senior Fabrication Technician will provide on-site, fabrication, research, development, and test support to ATI7 at CCSFS. Work with ATI7 personnel, they will produce unique and specialized parts using a variety of materials and machines including but not limited to 3D printers, Computer Numerical Control (CNC), water jets.


Responsibilities:

  • Focus on designing, developing, and machining specialized and/or "one of a kind" components required to integrate unique sensing technologies into various collection platforms.
  • Provide Quality Control (QC)/Quality Assurance (QA) to parts produced in house and/or externally.
  • Provides support for in-house technology initiatives and for assessment and monitoring of the adequacy and feasibility of technical proposals and on-going projects by other parties in Government, academia, and industry.
  • Conduct routine and periodic maintenance, performs minor repairs, and conducts pre and post operational checks on a variety of equipment.

  • Coordinate outsourcing of fabrication to other organizations as needed/directed.
  • Provide technical expertise to support fabrication, modification, bench test, calibration and troubleshooting of prototype units.
  • Assist engineers with testing, maintenance and preparedness for operations involving multiple functions such as readiness, utilization, safety, and interagency coordination.
  • Assist with ad hoc test support projects, including field support and movement and liaisons with stakeholders in support of project assignments.
  • Perform hands on support to all aspects of Cape test operations as assigned.
  • Perform machining on manual and CNC Mill and manual lathe.
  • Good understanding and proper use of fabrication hand tools such as tap and dies, Dremel, files, calibrated measuring tools.
  • Support with assembly and fabrication.
  • Professional hands-on experience with laying fiberglass, building and using fiberglass molds to create repetitive designs.
  • Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner while maintaining a high degree of work quality.
  • Ability to manage time and resources efficiently.


 Requirements:

  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Successful background and drug screening check.
  • High School Degree with a minimum of ten (10) or more years’ directly related experience.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to present relevant factors (both verbal and written) so that technical information is understood by non-technical end users.
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Effective communicator
  • Works well independently or as part of a group
  • Degree of judgment and multi-tasking associated with performing job duties.
  • Provide support on special projects as needed.


Preferred Requirements:

  • Knowledge of standard DoD acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures.
  • Experience in Risk Management processes
  • Good writing skills, as there may be a requirement to write reports.
  • First Aid Certification.
  • Experience with building RC planes and boats.
