We are looking for a seasoned ASIC Backend Customer Support Engineer with solid physical design background to deliver high‑quality post‑sales technical support to global customers. You will act as the key technical liaison between internal engineering teams and external customers, resolve complex ASIC backend implementation issues, ensure project stability, and continuously improve customer experience and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide professional technical support to customers for the full ASIC backend implementation flow, including floorplan, placement, routing, clock tree synthesis (CTS), timing closure, power integrity analysis, and physical verification (DRC/LVS/ERC).
2. Troubleshoot critical customer issues such as timing violations, IR drop problems, DRC/LVS errors, tool crashes, and flow bottlenecks, and deliver structured root‑cause analysis and effective solutions.
3. Collaborate closely with internal backend R&D, design engineering, and product teams to escalate high‑priority issues, align technical solutions, and drive timely resolution.
4. Review customer design constraints and project requirements, provide proactive technical guidance, share industry best practices, and help customers optimize their backend design methodology.
5. Manage customer support tickets, track issue progress, ensure on‑time closure, and conduct post‑case follow‑up to reduce recurring problems.
6. Develop and maintain customer‑facing technical documents, troubleshooting guides, FAQs, and training materials for ASIC backend tools and design flows.
7. Collect customer feedback on product functions, performance, and usability, and push internal teams to implement product and process improvements.
8. Participate in customer technical meetings, remote workshops, and occasional on‑site support to resolve high‑complexity issues.
Required Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Microelectronics, Electrical Engineering, Integrated Circuit Design or related disciplines.
2. Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in ASIC physical design or ASIC backend customer support.
3. Proficiency with mainstream EDA tools: Synopsys IC Compiler II, Cadence Innovus, PrimeTime, Calibre, StarRC, etc.
4. Deep understanding of timing closure, MCMM analysis, low‑power design (UPF/CPF), power integrity, and physical verification.
5. Familiar with mainstream semiconductor process nodes and basic DFM concepts.
6. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, able to handle multi‑tasking under tight schedules.
7. Fluent in written and spoken English for daily cross‑border customer communication.
8. Customer‑oriented mindset, good teamwork, and strong self‑driven working ability.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Working experience in EDA vendors, IP companies, or professional IC design service companies.
2. Proficient in Tcl, Python or Perl scripting for backend flow automation.
3. Experience with advanced process nodes (7nm, 5nm) and related backend challenges.
4. Experience in pre‑sales technical consultation or long‑term key account support.
5. Working experiences on datacenter/HPC related IC products will be a strong plus.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of Hardware Applications Engineering or Hardware Design experience or related work experience.OR
Master's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field and 1+ year of Hardware Applications Engineering or Hardware Design experience or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
