Job Overview
The Stylist Assistant supports the LIC (Long Island City) Content Studio by organizing, prepping, and pressing a high volume of product for daily on-figure photography. The Stylist Assistant maintains Macy’s imagery standards and helps execute styling direction across a wide variety of shoots.
What You Will Do
- Stay current on industry trends, techniques, and the competitive landscape for online photo content creation.
- Work independently while supporting stylist counterparts with a range of styling techniques.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Partner with team managers to align on creative direction and anticipate needs for upcoming projects.
- Proactively solve problems and deliver solutions that meet creative objectives.
- Support managing stylists, stylist counterparts, and photographers.
- Collaborate with Photo Directors, Designers, Merchandise Coordinators, and Operations teams.
- Ensure consistency and quality in image creation across all content.
- Build strong partnerships across all studio teams.
- Maintain consistent, reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
- In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.
Skills You Will Need
Garment Prep & Product Readiness: Strong proficiency in prepping, pinning, steaming, and pressing apparel, footwear, and accessories to ensure all product is camera-ready for high-volume on-figure and still life shoots.
Styling Support & Execution: Ability to support stylists with core styling techniques, maintain on-set readiness, and execute against established styling direction and brand standards.
Attention to Detail: High level of precision in garment presentation, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and quality across all imagery in a fast-paced studio environment.
Time Management & Productivity: Ability to prioritize, multitask, and deliver against tight deadlines in a high-volume, deadline-driven production setting.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Partnership: Strong ability to work effectively with stylists, photographers, designers, merchandising, and operations teams to support seamless production workflows.
Problem Solving & Adaptability: Proactive approach to identifying issues and delivering practical solutions to meet creative and production objectives in an ever-changing environment.
Communication & Professionalism: Clear, concise communicator who maintains a professional presence aligned with Macy’s brand and keeps team members informed.
Independence & Initiative: Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while contributing to overall team success.
Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and collaborate effectively across all levels and diverse teams.
Trend Awareness & Creative Curiosity: Working knowledge of industry trends and techniques for online photo content that informs everyday execution.
Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with photography studio environments and production workflows is a plus.
Flexibility & Work Ethic: Ability to adapt to shifting priorities, flexible schedules, and the demands of a high-energy, fast-paced studio environment.
Who You Are
- Candidates with a High School diploma or equivalent are encouraged to apply.
- 1-plus years of experience in a photography studio environment, with an emphasis on still life photography.
- This position requires heavy lifting, constant moving, remaining in a stationary position, and reaching with arms and hands. Involves remaining in a stationary position for at least two consecutive hours, lifting at least 35 lbs. stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. May involve reaching above eye level. Requires close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
