Purpose and Mission
As part of Bekaert's Operational Risk & Insurance team, the Risk & Insurance Manager plays a key role in global operations and enabling sustainable growth. This position requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure comprehensive insurance coverage and effective risk transfer.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
- Global insurance management: Support the design and implementation of global and local insurance programmes, based on risk assessments, regulatory requirements and business needs, covering lines such as property, liability, credit, D&O, cyber and transport.
- Premium and policy management: Manage insurance programmes end-to-end, including collection of underwriting information and validation of premium invoices and local policies.
- Claims management: Support claims handling from first notification through to settlement, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Contract review: Assess and advise on liability and insurance clauses in commercial agreements.
- M&A and project support: Analyse insurance implications of organic and inorganic growth initiatives and support project-related insurance requirements.
- Insurer and broker management: Build and maintain strong relationships with insurers and brokers to ensure efficient, reliable and value-driven collaboration.
- Budgeting and reporting: Provide data-driven insights to support budgeting, forecasting and risk-informed decision-making.
Requirements
- Master’s degree preferably in Law, Finance, Economics, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in corporate insurance management, brokerage, or underwriting.
- Strong analytical mindset and proven problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, relationship and negotiation skills, able to influence without direct authority.
- Collaborative team player with a high multicultural sensitivity.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written); additional languages are an asset.
- Willing to travel to Belgium and global locations (ad hoc, in case needed).
