Linux System Engineer (Hybrid)
Job Description
At Broadridge, we've built a culture where the highest goal is to empower others to accomplish more. If you’re passionate about developing your career, while helping others along the way, come join the Broadridge team.
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Linux Systems Engineer to join our Systems Engineering team. This is a pivotal role responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-grade Linux infrastructure with a strong focus on automation, security compliance, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) ecosystems and modern automation tooling, with a passion for building scalable, repeatable, and secure infrastructure solutions.
Responsibilities
Infrastructure and Systems Engineering
Design, deploy, configure, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems across development, staging, and production environments
Manage and optimize server infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability
Establish and enforce OS baseline standards and configuration management policies across the enterprise
Lead efforts in environment normalization — ensuring consistency, compliance, and standardization across all Linux systems
Participate in capacity planning, performance tuning, and infrastructure lifecycle management
Automation and Tooling
Develop, maintain, and expand Ansible playbooks, roles, and collections to automate repetitive operational tasks
Administer and optimize Ansible AWX for enterprise-wide automation workflows at scale
Manage and administer Red Hat Satellite for content lifecycle management, host registration, patch management, and provisioning
Leverage AI-assisted tools and platforms to enhance operational efficiency, anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, and intelligent automation workflows
Build and maintain automation pipelines for scaling security patching, OS updates, and compliance remediation
Contribute to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices and version-controlled automation repositories
Security and Compliance
Own and drive the automated security patching lifecycle — from vulnerability identification through patch testing, deployment, and validation
Ensure systems maintain compliance with internal security policies, CIS benchmarks, DISA STIGs, or other applicable frameworks
Collaborate with the Security team to remediate vulnerabilities and implement hardening standards at scale
Monitor and respond to CVEs and security advisories, coordinating timely patching across all managed systems
Implement and maintain role-based access controls (RBAC), audit logging, and system integrity monitoring
Low-Latency/High-Performance Environments (Preferred)
Support infrastructure requirements for high-frequency trading (HFT) or low-latency financial applications, including real-time kernel configurations and interrupt handling
Collaborate with application and network teams to minimize latency and maximize throughput in performance-critical environments
Collaboration and Continuous Improvement
Work closely with the SE Team Lead, DevOps, Security, and Application teams to align infrastructure with organizational goals
Document systems, processes, runbooks, and automation workflows thoroughly
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing
Evaluate and recommend emerging tools, technologies, and AI-driven solutions to continuously improve operational capabilities
Participate in on-call rotation and incident response as required
Your Profile
5+ years of hands-on Linux systems engineering experience (mid-level) or 7+ years (senior level)
Deep expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7/8/9) installation, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting
Proficiency with Ansible — writing and maintaining complex playbooks, roles, and modules
Hands-on experience with Ansible AWX / Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP)
Demonstrated experience with Red Hat Satellite — content views, lifecycle environments, activation keys, remote execution, and patch management
Strong understanding of Linux security fundamentals — SELinux, firewalld, PAM, sudoers, auditd, and system hardening
Experience building and managing automated patching and OS update workflows
Solid understanding of networking concepts — TCP/IP, DNS, NFS, bonding/teaming, VLANs
Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document technical processes clearly

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in low-latency or high-frequency trading (HFT) environments
Familiarity with real-time kernel (RT kernel) configuration and tuning
Knowledge of DPDK, SR-IOV, CPU pinning, NUMA tuning, and huge pages
Experience with AI/ML-assisted operations tools (e.g., Red Hat Insights, AIOps platforms, predictive analytics tools)
