Assistant to the City Treasurer – Events & Marketing Manager
CITY TREASURER’S OFFICE
Number of Positions: 1
Starting Salary: $84,000,
commensurate with experience

The City of Chicago Treasurer’s Office seeks an Events and Marketing Manager to produce high-quality content that engages the Chicago residents and builds brand recognition for the City of Chicago Treasurer’s Office, and execute economic development workshops for the residents of Chicago under the guidance of the Financial Empowerment and Education team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
· Create communication and marketing strategies for events and services offered.
· Work with the Public Information Officer to generate new ideas and strategies.
· Develop and implement effective communication strategies that build awareness of office initiatives.
· Create informative, engaging press kits, media alerts, newsletters, websites, and related marketing materials.
· Attends outreach events, both in-person and remotely, and represents the CTO at community meetings
· Plan and manage all online and marketing materials design, content, and production.
· Produces events for the office related to Financial Empowerment and well-being
· Partners with internal communications while working under tight deadlines and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
· Perform other duties as assigned
Additional duties may be required for this position
Location: 121 N. LaSalle Street, 1st floor
Days: Monday - Friday
Hours: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
THIS POSITION IS SHAKMAN-EXEMPT
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a relevant field.
· A minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar role.
· Proven experience in creating targeted content is advantageous.
· Prior experience in the financial services industry or knowledge of financial services and products is a plus
· Prior experience in WordPress, Canva, and Streamyard is a plus
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Strong understanding of government communication practices and techniques.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Creative and self-starter: the ability to initiate the crafting of engaging and compelling content and images
· Well-organized, able to multitask and work well under pressure, with strong leadership abilities.
