Who we are looking for:
First Eagle is seeking a Corporate Development professional to support the CFO and Corp Dev team in upcoming M&A and transaction activities which will include providing critical reports and presentations to the Board and our private equity investors, Genstar. This role is based in New York and will offer a unique opportunity to work on many exciting and strategic initiatives that will span across business lines.
What you will do:
Evaluate M&A activities that align with First Eagle’s strategic objectives, drive long-term value and contribute to the growth of the firm’s platform
Conduct comprehensive due diligence on potential acquisition targets assessing financial, operational and strategic fit
Develop detailed valuation models and business cases to support M&A activities and critical firm initiatives
Collaborate closely with CFO and Director of Corporate Development in identifying, evaluating, and executing M&A activities that align with First Eagle’s strategic objectives and drive long-term value
Conduct complex analyses and reporting on strategy, merits and considerations of specific opportunities that can be shared with the First Eagle Partnership Committee and Board via presentation decks – sharing the “story” in a concise and thoughtful way
Lead projects and initiatives that span across financial and business areas often with other Finance teams including Corporate Accounting, FP&A and Performance Analytics
As part of day-to-day deal flow, partner with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful execution of transactions
Research and analyze industry themes, competitive dynamics, and client- and technology-related trends to identify opportunities, provide relevant business insights and mitigate risks
Participate in post-acquisition integration efforts to ensure fulfillment of strategic objectives
Assist in First Eagle’s broader business development and investor relations initiatives
The qualities you should have:
Undergraduate degree in finance, business, economics or related field required; MBA and/or CFA preferred but not required
5+ years of experience in investment banking and/or private equity and corporate strategy and development, with domain expertise in the asset management sector
Exceptional quantitative and qualitative analytical and problem-solving skills; background in valuation and financial modeling skills
Extensive experience in Excel and developing PowerPoint presentations for board members and senior executive audiences
Knowledge of financial markets and basic economic principles
Strong valuation and financial modeling skills
Experience evaluating and pursuing merger and acquisition opportunities from concept to transaction execution and integration
Resourceful, efficient, and meticulous attention to detail; proven and proactive project management skills
Agile, flexible and able to handle complex business projects with a high sense of urgency in a fast-paced, deadline-intensive environment
Dynamic and effective communication skills (written and verbal); display executive presence
Strong work ethic; willing to be diligent and on-call during busy periods
Base Salary range: $150,000 to $180,000. In addition, this role is eligible for an annual incentive bonus. Compensation may vary based upon, but not limited to, the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
