
Commercial Installer
Job Description
The Telecommunications Commercial Installer Serves is responsible for the
installation, maintenance, and documentation of commercial fiber optic and
coaxial cable systems. This role supports both inside and outside plant
(ISP/OSP) construction, including structured cabling, aerial and underground
drops, and customer premise installations.
Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, and test fiber optic and coaxial cable systems in
- commercial environments
- Perform inside wiring (ISP) including structured cabling, wall fishing,
- and equipment connections
- Complete outside plant (OSP) work including:
- Underground conduit placement and trenching
- Aerial drop installation from pole to building
- Entry point and demarcation setup
- Install and mount equipment such as network interface devices, modems, and enclosures
- Accurately document completed work for billing purposes (fiber/coax jobs)
- Track labor, materials, and production units per job
- Submit clear and complete work orders, as-builts, and closeout documentation
- Communicate any scope changes that may impact billing or job cost
- Perform signal testing and certification of fiber and coax systems
- Troubleshoot service issues, signal loss, and connectivity problems
- Ensure all installations meet company and customer specifications
- Follow all safety procedures including PPE, traffic control, and ladder/pole safety
- Comply with local, state, and company regulations (including utility locate requirements)
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
The ideal candidate is experienced in commercial environments, understands
billing/work order accountability, and can complete jobs efficiently while
maintaining quality and safety standards.
