
Program Manager, News - TikTok Operations (Los Angeles)
Job Description
TikTok's Program Operations team is responsible for delivering high-quality, efficient, and effective B2B experiences for our major partners and internal stakeholders. Primarily, this is delivered through program management, operational infrastructure, and scalable processes that support global media businesses.
The Program Manager, News will manage high-priority programs that support TikTok’s news publisher ecosystem, including content partnership programs, tentpole news moments, audience growth initiatives, product go-to-market efforts, and operational frameworks for news partners.
This role will work closely with cross-functional teams across Product, Content Partnerships, Creator Management, Business Development, and more. The ideal candidate has strong program management experience, a deep interest in the news industry, and the ability to translate complex partner, product, and market needs into clear operating plans and strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver end-to-end program management for news content partnerships, publisher programs, global collaborations, tentpole news moments, and audience growth initiatives.
- Lead cross-functional alignment with key teams including Product, Content Partnerships, Creator Management, Business Development, and more.
- Deliver owned and operated product go-to-market and partner accelerator programs for news publishers and creators, including clear rollout plans, partner education, feedback loops, and market expansion strategies.
- Build operational infrastructure to streamline and scale news programs, including processes for partner onboarding, campaign execution, reporting, documentation, and internal visibility.
- Create communication channels, frameworks, templates, best practice playbooks, and resources to support news program execution across markets.
- Partner with internal teams to identify publisher needs, surface product and operational feedback, and help shape scalable solutions that support credible, high-quality news content.
- Develop foundational operational products and processes that empower teams to execute and evolve news programs at scale.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in program management, project management, operations, partnerships, media, or a related field.
- Experience working with or strong understanding of news, journalism, digital media, publishers, or content ecosystems.
- Deep understanding of key metrics and measurements in content, publisher, or creator operations, including audience growth, engagement, retention, partner performance, and operational efficiency.
- Strong understanding of local business dynamics, market nuances, and the evolving digital news landscape, with intellectual curiosity to dive deeply into complex issues.
- Natural collaborator with the ability to drive alignment among diverse stakeholders across Marketing, GBS, Product, Data, Algorithm, User Growth, Policy, Trust & Safety, and more.
- Experience working in a global or highly cross-functional role, including building relationships across regions, markets, and stakeholder groups.
- Strong ability to manage ambiguity, prioritize competing workstreams, and translate strategic goals into actionable operating plans.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Direct experience working with news publishers, journalism organizations, media companies, or digital news platforms.
- Strong understanding of the news industry, including publisher business models, newsroom workflows, audience development, platform distribution, and emerging news consumption trends.
- Leadership in understanding key business priorities, including the ability to clearly articulate issues, recommend solutions, and launch projects that support those priorities.
- Extraordinary organizational skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with stakeholder teams, regional partners, and senior leadership.
- Experience driving product-based initiatives, partner education programs, go-to-market efforts, or scaled operational launches.
