Help Shape Hampshire’s Future
We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to join Hampshire County Council’s Capital Delivery Team.
This role plays an important part in supporting the successful delivery of transport and infrastructure schemes across the county through effective engagement, communication and coordination with communities, stakeholders and project teams.
The Role:
You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of transport schemes aligned with Local Transport Plan 4, helping to ensure projects are clearly communicated, well understood by communities and delivered with strong public and stakeholder support.
This role focuses on providing engagement and administrative support to the Capital Delivery Team, enabling effective communication with residents, elected members, stakeholders and partners throughout the lifecycle of schemes. You will also support early engagement activities with the Scheme Development and Strategic Transport teams, helping to embed engagement at the earliest stages of project planning.
What you’ll do:
You will support the planning and delivery of engagement activities across a range of transport schemes, working closely with the Programme Engagement Team Leader and Capital Delivery teams. This will include organising events such as public exhibitions and workshops, facilitating clear and effective communication with residents, elected members and stakeholders, and ensuring engagement activities are well coordinated and professionally delivered.
You will also support online engagement by producing web content to update scheme webpages and contributing to social media communications, ensuring information is clear, accessible and up to date.
In addition, you will respond to enquiries, assist in preparing and distributing communications, and maintain accurate records to support project delivery. You will contribute to improving ways of working, ensuring engagement activities are delivered effectively, cost-efficiently and in line with corporate standards and policies.
What we’re looking for:
We are looking for someone with strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage a varied workload and balance multiple priorities effectively. You will be confident working in a fast-paced environment and able to adapt to different tasks and situations.
You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage positively and professionally with a wide range of stakeholders including residents, elected members, partners and colleagues across the organisation.
You will be proactive, flexible and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail, the ability to handle sensitive or confidential information appropriately, and a practical, solution-focused approach will be key to success in this role.
An understanding of community engagement or experience supporting projects, events or communications activity would be beneficial.
Please note that interview shortlisting will be based on how clearly you demonstrate the essential (and, where relevant, desirable) criteria in your application text. Please refer to the candidate pack for further information.
