Compensation: $24.00 - $25.25 / hour

The maintenance Inventory Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring accuracy, efficient, and compliant movement and purchasing of spare parts, repair parts, and consumables. 

Operating Schedule:
  • 2nd Shift 3:00pm-11:30pm (+$1.25 Shift Differential)


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains records of materials in inventory and on order. Monitors reorder points and initiates to replenish stock.
  • Reconciles discrepancies in inventories and notifies supervisor of irregularities.
  • Monitors and maintains current inventory levels; process purchasing orders as required; tracks orders and investigates delays and other issues.
  • Records purchases, maintains database, performs physical count of inventory, and reconciles actual stock count to computer-generated reports.
  • Receives, unpacks, and deliver goods; re-stocks items as necessary; labels shelves.
  • Inspects shipments for accuracy and completeness and resolves inconsistencies.
  • Responsible for maintaining the supply and demand of inventory and ensuring that there are adequate stocks available.
  • Assists in management of tool and chemical inventories.
  • Orders replacement/spare parts for production equipment using input from maintenance manuals, operators, maintenance staff, or other SME’s.
  • Strives to prevent “machine down” conditions in production by working with machine suppliers and in-house SME’s to acquire necessary components.
  • Builds and maintains strong, positive vendor relations.
  • Identifies opportunities that will prolong the life span of production parts and/or equipment.
  • Identifies and recommends cost savings opportunities.
  • Ensures production parts/assemblies are maintained, inventoried, and ready for production use.
  • Utilizes existing tracking systems and creates new systems, where applicable, for production equipment / parts status.
  • Assists in new machinery & replacement parts purchasing process.
  • Must be able to work in a stationary position as well as move about unassisted for a 12-, 10-, or 8- hour shift and work overtime as assigned, and when necessary, in an enclosed room.
  • Must be able to work while wearing a half-mask respirator or full-air respirator for up to four hours at a time and be able to follow Thorne Respiratory Protection Program guidelines.
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as circumstances arise during the course of a shift.
  • Must be able to hear and converse with supervisors and other employees. Must be able to see and read small print.
  • Must be able to work in a moderate noise level environment.
  • Must be able to move or lift items weighing up to 50 pounds from floor to table and from table to floor, occasionally, during a 12-, 10-, or 8-hour shift. Must have sufficient range of motion with arms and hands to reach overhead and to the side, often repetitively, during a 12-, 10-, or 8-hour shift. Must be able to ascend/descend a ladder while carrying up to 20 pounds of materials.


WHAT YOU NEED

  •  By training, education and/or experience, employee must be able to perform the essential duties of the job. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. 1-2 years’ experience in Procurement is preferred. Previous experience in Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, or Food manufacturing preferred.
  •  Employee has the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in the units of measurement used in the Maintenance Department, using whole numbers and decimals (for example, grams). 
  •  During disassembly and assembly of machines, employee is able to discern that the parts and tools are the correct ones for the tasks at hand.
  •  The ability to use a computer to receive and submit work requests, document work, send/receive email, research parts, and complete basic calculations accurately. Proficient in Microsoft office including excel and word.
