The Duke Division of Medical Oncology is internationally recognized for its novel approaches to treating patients who present with all stages and subtypes of head and neck cancer. Specialists in medicine, surgery, radiation therapy, radiology, pathology, and palliative care who concentrate on the care of patients with head and neck cancer meet at least weekly to review difficult cases, debate new therapy plans, and formulate treatment algorithms. Duke’s clinicians and scientists work in proximity, bringing patients the benefit of a true “bench-to-bedside” approach to care that offers promising new therapies quickly to those who need them most. The result of these efforts is a program unsurpassed in our service region and unequaled in most parts of the country or the world.
