Purpose & Objectives

The Designer will contribute to design and user experience efforts focused on enhancing Parents Gateway and related initiatives within the Parents Domain. This role requires a user-centred design approach to improve digital touchpoints for parents, school administrators, and MOE stakeholders — simplifying how families engage with schools and access key services.

[What you will be working on]

Objectives:

  • Develop user-centric solutions that improve the experience of parents and school users interacting with Parents Gateway and related Parents Domain products.

  • Apply UX design methodologies to understand user needs, optimise user journeys, and improve usability across web and mobile platforms.

  • Contribute to the design-thinking process to create intuitive, accessible, and practical digital solutions for the Parents Domain.

  • Support research, prototyping, and usability testing to ensure designs are grounded in real user needs and expectations.

  • Deepen familiarity with the Parents Domain ecosystem and its users during the initial 6–12 months, building a strong foundation for iterative design improvements.

Key Responsibilities

UX Design, Prototyping, and Testing
Design wireframes, prototypes, and user flows to clearly visualise and communicate design concepts to the team and stakeholders. Validate designs through user feedback and usability testing, and iterate based on findings to continuously improve the experience. Manage design work across the end-to-end process, from early ideation through to implementation guidance, ensuring consistency and quality throughout.

User Research and Service Design
Conduct user interviews, surveys, and usability testing sessions to gather meaningful insights from parents and school admin users. Map out user journeys and identify pain points to surface opportunities for improvement across Parents Domain products. Facilitate or support workshops to align on user needs, workflows, and design directions with the broader team.

Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration
Work closely with product managers, engineers, and MOE stakeholders to ensure design solutions meet both user needs and business objectives. Communicate design decisions and rationale clearly to team members and project leads. Participate in ideation and co-creation sessions to develop solutions that genuinely address the needs of families and school communities.

Skills, Behaviours, and Attributes Needed

  • UX Design Proficiency: Skilled in creating wireframes, prototypes, and user flows, with a strong eye for usability and visual clarity.

  • Research Skills: Comfortable conducting user interviews, usability tests, and synthesising findings to inform design decisions.

  • Collaboration and Communication: Able to work effectively within cross-functional teams and articulate design thinking clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Attention to Detail: Committed to producing well-considered, consistent designs that hold up under scrutiny.

  • Proficiency in UX Design Tools: Competent in Figma and equivalent modern design and prototyping tools.

  • Curiosity and Empathy: Genuine interest in understanding the lived experiences of parents and school users and translating those insights into meaningful design improvements.

  • AI-Augmented Ways of Working: Comfortable leveraging AI tools to enhance design workflows — whether for accelerating research synthesis, generating design concepts, or improving productivity across the design process. A willingness to experiment with and adopt AI-assisted approaches is strongly preferred.

What We Offer:

  • Collaborative and creative work environment
  • Competitive salary and benefits package, including opportunities for professional growth and development
  • Work environment that is fully supportive of self-improvement and personal/professional development

GovTech is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive workplace that values diverse voices and perspectives, as we believe it is key to innovation.
