
Senior QA Engineer – REST API Automation & Web Portal Testing

Key Responsibilities
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior QA Engineer with a strong background in REST API automation and web portal testing. The ideal candidate will have a passion for delivering high-quality software, strong analytical skills, and hands-on experience with modern test automation frameworks. You will collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and DevOps teams to ensure robust and scalable application performance across services and UI layers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for REST APIs using tools like Postman, REST Assured, or Karate.
- Perform functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing for web-based applications.
- Collaborate with developers and product managers during requirements analysis to identify edge cases and test scenarios early in the development lifecycle.
- Create comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test data for manual and automated execution.
- Set up CI/CD pipelines for automated testing using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, etc.
- Analyze test failures, perform root cause analysis, and file detailed bug reports in JIRA or similar tools.
- Perform cross-browser, responsive, and UI consistency testing using tools like Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, etc.
- Maintain and enhance test automation frameworks and reusable components.
- Mentor junior QA engineers and participate in code and test reviews.
Required Skills:
- 3–6 years of experience in QA automation and manual testing.
- Strong expertise in REST API testing (Postman, REST Assured, Swagger, JSON/XML parsing).
- Solid experience with automation frameworks (TestNG, JUnit, Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, etc.).
- Proficiency in Java, Python, or JavaScript for writing automation scripts.
- Experience with build and CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, Git.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodology and test management tools (JIRA, Zephyr, TestRail).
- Experience with SQL and database validation (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.).
- Good understanding of HTTP, status codes, OAuth, JWT, and API authentication mechanisms.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience with performance testing tools like JMeter, Gatling, or Locust.
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
- Knowledge of security testing for APIs (OWASP, authentication flaws).
- Experience in mobile application testing is a plus.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
