Job Summary
The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring supplied materials and components meet quality, engineering, and manufacturing requirements. This role has a strong focus on Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) readiness, submission review, supplier qualification, process validation, and ongoing supplier performance improvement. The position partners closely with suppliers, sourcing, manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to reduce risk, drive compliance, and support flawless product launches
Key Responsibilities
Lead supplier quality activities for new product introduction and supplier changes.
Manage and review PPAP submissions to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with customer and internal requirements.
Review APQP activities with suppliers to support successful industrialization and launch readiness.
Review and approve quality documents including:
Process flow diagrams
PFMEAs
Control plans
Process capability studies
MSA studies
Dimensional and material certifications
Ensure suppliers meet requirements for first article inspection, sample validation, and production readiness.
Drive closure of issues identified during PPAP review, audits, launch containment, and production.
Support supplier selection, qualification, and development activities.
Monitor supplier performance using KPIs such as PPM, on-time PPAP approval, cost of poor quality, and corrective action responsiveness.
Lead supplier corrective actions using structured problem-solving methods such as 8D, 5 Whys, and Ishikawa.
Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve nonconforming material issues and implement robust corrective and preventive actions.
Participate in deviation reviews, change management, and supplier process change approvals.
Conduct risk assessments related to supplier processes, special characteristics, and launch readiness.
Promote use of continuous improvement methods to strengthen supplier process control and product quality.
Support compliance with applicable industry, customer, and regulatory quality standards.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in automotive, HVAC, industrial manufacturing, or regulated manufacturing environments.
Familiarity with ISO 9001, or similar quality management systems.
ASQ certification such as CQE or equivalent.
Bachelors degree preferred. Will consider experience in lieu of a degree.
Experience with launch management and supplier readiness reviews.
Knowledge of statistical analysis and capability evaluation.
Travel
Travel may be required for supplier visits, audits, and launch support.
