Why this job matters:
Responsible for driving Medicare product sales and growth within an assigned territory by educating beneficiaries, building strong community partnerships, and delivering compliant, customer-focused enrollment support. This role combines consultative sales, relationship management, and deep knowledge of Medicare products to help individuals make informed healthcare coverage decisions while consistently meeting or exceeding sales goals.
What you will do:
- Represent the organization in the community by building strong partnerships with community organizations, providers and referral sources to generate and sustain a pipeline of qualified leads through events, outreach, and education.
- Conduct enrollment meetings and health fairs to promote Medicare to Individual and Group markets.
- Meet or exceed Medicare sales goals through proactive outreach, consultative selling, and enrollment activities, effectively managing territory, pipeline, and prospect engagement.
- Adhere to all CMS Medicare marketing guidelines, regulatory requirements, and company policies while maintaining accurate and timely records of all sales activities and enrollments.
- Collaborate across sales channels and internal teams to maximize enrollment opportunities, address member needs, and improve business processes in alignment with strategic objectives.
- Participate in work teams, committees, projects and go-to-market activity related to the development and launch of the Medicare product portfolio. . Assist representatives with community development activities and act as a liaison both internally and externally for Medicare product lines.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all Medicare products and, as needed, support or manage Group Medicare accounts including renewals, client support, and underwriting processes. Partner with Group Medicare team as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you need to succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Health Administration, Marketing, or Finance; or an applicable combination of education and work experience
- Valid Driver’s License
- Three to five years experience in sales or marketing activities
- Knowledge of Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) guidance as it pertains to marketing activities and compliance
- Demonstrated customer service skills
- Well developed verbal and written communication skills
- Strong presentation skills and comfort with public speaking
- Strong negotiating, influencing, and consensus-building skills
- Ability to handle multiple priorities/projects
- Good business acumen and political savvy
- Proficiency with Microsoft office products
- Strong organizational skills, with a track record of managing multiple tasks effectively
- Detail oriented skills
- Ability to take initiative in finding solutions to difficult and/or sensitive problems
- Ability to act as a strategist, visionary, or change agent
The extras:
- Valid Health Insurance Producers License; or required to obtain within 2 months of hir
- Prior experience selling Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, or Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan (D-SNP)
- Knowledge and experience with Blue Cross product lines and services
- Knowledge of RI landscape and experience partnering with community organizations
- Knowledge and experience with CRM Software Systems; Salesforce etc
Location:
BCBSRI is headquartered in downtown Providence, conveniently located near the train station and bus terminal. We actively support associate well-being and work/life balance and offer the following schedules, based on role:
- In-office: onsite 5 days per week
- Hybrid: onsite 2-4 days per week
- Remote: onsite 0-1 days per week. Permitted to reside in the following states, pending approval from the Human Resources Department: Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia
