About the Position:
As an Inventory & Property Associate II, you will play a key role in managing inventory, stockroom operations, and property control activities to support agency operations. Responsibilities include receiving, storing, organizing, and distributing materials and equipment; maintaining accurate inventory records; processing shipments; and ensuring stockroom safety and efficiency.
This position operates in a warehouse and stockroom environment and requires frequent lifting and moving of packages and materials weighing up to 45 pounds, with occasional lifting of items up to 60 pounds. Employees regularly use equipment such as pallet jacks, loading docks, and other material-handling tools.
The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with occasional evening or weekend work required on short notice to meet operational needs. Limited travel may be required, including the operation of State-owned vehicles; therefore, possession of a valid Maine Driver's License is required.
The stockroom environment is dusty and does not have natural light. While temperatures are generally moderate, they may fluctuate throughout the year. Duties may also require work on a loading dock during hot, cold, or inclement weather conditions. Steel-toe footwear is required and provided by the agency.

In This Role You Will:
- Maintain inventory of over 600 Bureau of Motor Vehicles forms, supplies, license plates, decals, and serialized materials.
- Receive, warehouse, distribute, and track inventory while performing regular cycle counts to ensure accuracy.
- Process and fulfill requisitions for all BMV branch offices, Secretary of State divisions, municipalities, schools, dealerships, law enforcement agencies, and other partners.
- Coordinate deliveries and shipments using inventory management and shipping software.
- Assist customers at the stockroom counter and provide support via phone and email.
- Maintain accurate records of serialized inventory and sequentially numbered items.
- Serve as backup support for mailroom and courier operations.
- Assist with facilities requests, archive storage, surplus property management, and other agency projects.
- Deliver supplies and materials to BMV branch offices and other locations throughout the state as needed.
- Support vanity plate, license plate, validation decal, and other mailing operations.
- Perform additional stockroom, BMV, and Secretary of State duties as assigned.
- Ability to frequently lift and move materials weighing up to 60 pounds.
- Valid Maine driver's license required.
- Ability to maintain accurate inventory and distribution records.
- Strong customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferences Will Be Given to Candidates Who Have:
The ability to operate warehouse material handling equipment. Experience with inventory control, stockroom operations, receiving, shipping.
Minimum Qualifications:
Entry level knowledges, skills, and/or abilities may be acquired through, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO the following coursework/training and/or experience.)
Training, education or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a solid knowledge of inventory and property management principles and practices to perform complex work in procuring or selling public wares or property and 2) the ability to use independent decision making on the appropriate processes to follow, information to process and actions to take in accordance with standard procedures.
All positions in this classification assume the qualifications of: Inventory and Property Assistant and Inventory and Property Associate I.
