Shift: M-F, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
JOB SUMMARY: Routine grounds tours include assessing the condition of grass, flower beds, exterior entrances, and exterior walks and drives. Seasonal responsibilities include lawn care, flower planting, weeding and feeding coordination, mulching, tree shaping, bushes, and edging. During the winter season, participate in severe weather activities effort snow and ice removal and maintenance. Tours to include routine cleaning of exterior entrances, trash receptacles, and parking lots. Maintains all grounds equipment to assure reliable and appropriate operation. Assists in development of operating and capital budgets. Required to support maintenance staff in the facilities when not working in the exterior. These tasks include but are not limited to light bulb and ceiling tile replacement, furniture moving, and minor cosmetic repairs. Occasionally interacts with patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly.
- Performs routine tours of exterior to assess condition daily.
- Maintains lawn including mowing, seeding, weed and feed, edging, and watering as require.
- Manages landscaping including flower beds, flower selection, mulch, bed designs, routine maintenance and landscaping vendor activities.
- Provides support and direction to contractors on site.
- Supports snow emergency plan for the Health System, assessing resource needs with the goal of maintaining safe parking, drives, and entrances.
- Prepares exterior as well as works with internal customer for seasonal and event related needs and decorations.
- Advises Supervisor regarding operating and capital budget needs.
- Assists trades positions as required when in-house.
- Manages and maintains all exterior equipment and vehicles for proper operation and repair.
- Responsible to maintain grounds storage and garage areas in neat and orderly manner to include appropriate supply inventory.
- Completes logs, work orders, pm reports or other documents as required.
- Remains customer focused in all aspects of job performance. Consistently responds to internal and external customers in a timely, professional, and courteous manner.
- Is properly dressed and groomed as per Departmental and Health System dress code requirements including the consistent and prominent display of I.D. badge.
- Performs other duties as assigned as they pertain to the efficient operation of the Health System.
Work Experience
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Education & Training: High School or vocational school graduation required. Grounds specific, landscaping, or horticultural training desired.
Work Orientation & Experience: Two (2) years previous grounds maintenance experience is preferred. Landscaping experience and management as well as grounds vendor interaction desired. Must be well versed in operation and maintenance of powered grounds and landscaping equipment with the ability to verify operational and service checklists. The applicant is required to present a copy of a recent, clean MVA Driving Record.
Skills & Abilities: The ability to properly assess the exterior conditions of the facility on a daily basis. Maintaining grounds including proper feeding of turf to maintain health and color. Similar management of health and aesthetic beauty of flowers and mulch beds. Clean management of facility drives, walkways, and parking areas. Be able to assess and support “Snow Emergency Plan” as required. Ability to follow instructions and direction as well as work with minimal supervision at selected times. Communicates effectively, prioritizes tasks, and responds accordingly.
