
JVIC- Material Manager
Job Description
The Materials Manager manages all materials activities on major projects; participates with the Project Management Team in pre-planning and constructability efforts prior to mobilization; devises the Project Materials Plan which coordinates the definition, acquisition, and distribution processes in support of the Project Execution Plan; defines the application of internal and external interfaces; manages all Material Management Services field operations, including system administration.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implements Procurement and Materials Department guidelines and policies.
- Develop programs to distribute, train, and monitor for compliance.
- Develop and manage the project materials mobilization and demobilization efforts
- Interview, hire, and train personnel to staff project materials and data entry positions
- Performance management planning and salary action review activities for all field Materials Management personnel
- Manage project Logistics functions for inbound – outbound shipments
- Develop and manage materials-related responsibilities between the following groups: Procurement, Expediting, Data Interface, Project Management, Client requirements, Partner (JV) requirements, and Sub-Contractors
- Interface and communicate with; project and home office Management, reporting staff, project crafts, expediting and support Services.
- Develop and direct Engineered and consumable programs for field utilization
- Oversight responsibility for materials system entry and resolution of supplier or other data issues
- Supports Advanced Work Packaging activities and processes
- Maintains OS&D (Over Short or Damage) and MSO (Miscellaneous Shipping Order) documentation and logs.
- Responsible for PM (Preventative Maintenance) tracking system and issuance – entry of work orders for inventory equipment requiring PM. Craft PM Staff may be assigned to the Materials Manager if directed by Project Management.
- Coordinate and report Procurement and Materials Department metrics and performance.
- Coordinate surplus disposal at projects.
REQUIREMENTS
- Must have High School Diploma or GED and a Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Have a minimum of 5 years of large/mega industrial construction in Materials Management
- Must have experience managing large teams and coordinating efforts between multiple construction teams, such as project controls, administration, and construction
- Prefer experience in multiple industrial market sectors.
- Prefer experience in material work packaging and detailed work planning.
- Prefer experience in managing multiple material managers and large teams
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in work package planning/bill of material development
Understanding of technical documents and drawings related to industrial construction materials and equipment
Oracle Procurement/Inventory Experience desirable
Excellent Microsoft Office Skills
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Employee will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, email, video chat and software systems. The position will be based at an industrial fabrication shop requiring mobility (on the ground and at heights) and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: a hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves, and work boots.
