The Counseling and Behavioral Health Clinic helps families of any income level with everyday problems, build healthy relationships, and heal from trauma and grief. Licensed bilingual counselors serve families in schools, at parishes, and in other locations throughout the greater Houston area.
The Clinical Practicum Intern will focus on clinical practice, including intake, assessment, biopsychosocial evaluations, and treatment planning. Students will have the opportunity to shadow licensed clinicians and gain hands on experience providing counseling to individuals in the community. Professional development training and EHR based training will be provided. All client facing activities are completed under supervision to ensure quality of care, ethical practice, and professional growth.
LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES

- Reflective Practice: Participation in supervision, case consultation, and feedback based professional growth.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
- Conduct client intakes, screenings, and initial assessments.
- Assist in developing individualized treatment plans.
- Shadow licensed clinicians during counseling sessions.
- Provide counseling to individuals or groups under clinical supervision.
- Complete clinical documentation and progress notes using the EHR system.
- Participate in supervision, case consultations, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Attend monthly team meetings on Friday morning.
- Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to ethical and professional standards.
- Participate in professional development and training sessions.
- Support community outreach activities as needed.
- Conduct research and assist with program related projects.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Currently enrolled graduate student in a clinical counseling concentration
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Valid Texas Driver’s License

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint)
