Job Description
Water Operator in Training
We are seeking a Water Operator to support the daily operation and maintenance of our water treatment facilities. This position is responsible for operating treatment equipment, monitoring processes, performing routine maintenance, documenting plant performance, and responding to operational issues.
This role requires flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, evenings, and 24‑hour on‑call assignments as needed.
Responsibilities
Operate and maintain water treatment equipment including pumps, valves, motors, belt presses, disinfection systems, and vehicles
Monitor production wells and treatment unit processes
Perform routine testing and basic laboratory analyses
Document daily operations including flow, chemical usage, electrical usage, and dosages
Perform routine maintenance and assist with emergency repairs to equipment, instrumentation, and electrical components
Respond to after‑hours call‑outs and emergency situations
Maintain clean, organized, and secure facilities
Provide customer service support when required
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Previous water or wastewater treatment experience preferred
Working knowledge of treatment processes, maintenance practices, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements
Ability to perform routine maintenance and emergency repairs
Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain required water or wastewater certifications
Completion of water or wastewater correspondence courses preferred
Education & Certifications
High School Diploma or GED required
Valid Driver’s License required (CDL preferred)
State‑specific Water or Wastewater Operator’s License required based on site
Skills & Requirements
Ability to follow operating manuals, standard procedures, and safety guidelines
Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office and internet applications)
Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation skills
Clear, professional communication
Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under supervision
Ability to remain composed during emergencies
Physical Requirements
Frequently lift 50–60 pounds
Load, unload, and move equipment and tools
Work in confined spaces
Walk, climb stairs, and use ladders throughout the workday
