Job Description

Telecom Engineer (POTS, Teams Voice, SIP, Cellular) Location: Remote, United States. Near a Legence office location is preferred.  Travel: Yes, occasional travel is required. OverviewThe Telecom Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, operation, and support of the enterprise voice and telecommunications environment. This role ensures reliable, secure, and cost-effective communication services across legacy and modern platforms, including POTS, Microsoft Teams Voice, SIP trunking, and cellular services. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and support enterprise voice solutions including Microsoft Teams Voice, Direct Routing, and Operator Connect. Administer and maintain POTS lines for life-safety systems and regulatory requirements. Manage SIP trunking services including call routing, failover, and quality optimization. Support auto attendants, call queues, voicemail, E911, and number management. Manage cellular services including provisioning, carrier plans, and lifecycle management. Provide Tier 2/3 support and perform root-cause analysis for telecom issues. Coordinate with carriers and vendors for service delivery and escalation. Maintain documentation including call flows, inventories, and runbooks. Ensure compliance with E911, Kari’s Law, and RAY BAUM’s Act. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. 5+ years of enterprise telecom or voice engineering experience. Hands-on experience with Microsoft Teams Voice. Strong understanding of POTS, SIP, and PSTN connectivity. Experience working with telecom carriers. Strong troubleshooting and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Direct Routing SBCs. Experience with E911 solutions. Familiarity with legacy PBX systems. Telecom or Microsoft certifications.
