Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a results-driven, innovative, and solutions-oriented Maintenance & Boiler Operator to join our team. The Maintenance & Boiler Operator is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing production equipment, facility systems, and boiler operations to support safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations. This position plays a critical role in minimizing downtime, ensuring regulatory compliance, supporting preventative maintenance programs, and maintaining the overall reliability of equipment and utilities throughout the facility. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with strong mechanical aptitude and experience operating and maintaining industrial boiler systems in a manufacturing environment.
Essential Functions, Key objectives, and Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production equipment, facility systems, and utilities.
- Adhere to all Health, Safety, and GMP requirements while promoting safe work practices throughout the facility.
- Operate, monitor, inspect, and maintain boiler systems to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operation.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control systems to minimize downtime.
- Monitor boiler water chemistry, safety controls, and operating conditions to ensure regulatory compliance and system efficiency.
- Maintain accurate boiler logs, maintenance records, inspections, and compliance documentation.
- Diagnose equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to improve reliability and performance.
- Install, modify, repair, and upgrade manufacturing and facility equipment as needed.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and technical specifications.
- Support production operations through equipment setup, changeovers, and troubleshooting assistance.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and maintenance diagnostic tools safely and effectively.
- Maintain work orders and maintenance activities within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Partner with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Safety teams to support continuous improvement, equipment reliability, and operational efficiency.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Competencies:
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, steam, and boiler systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, technical manuals, and equipment drawings.
- Knowledge of preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance practices.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose equipment issues and implement effective solutions.
- Communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
- Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
- Advanced fabrication skills including MIG/TIG welding.
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minnesota Boiler Operator License required.
- Minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting industrial boiler systems required.
- Experience with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and steam systems required.
- Technical school, trade school certification, or equivalent maintenance training preferred.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) preferred.
- Experience in food, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, or other regulated manufacturing environments preferred.
