Forklift Road Technician

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Forklift Road Technician to join our service team. This position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of forklift and material handling equipment at customer locations. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical repair experience and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.

Position Summary
Under general supervision, the Forklift Road Technician performs routine preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on forklifts, aerial lifts, scissor lifts and related equipment. This position requires travel to customer locations to provide field service and emergency repairs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Hydraulic Systems
Diagnose and repair hydraulic system components.
Tear down and rebuild hydraulic cylinders.
Fabricate and replace hydraulic hoses.
Repair hydraulic valves and related components.
Electrical Systems
Diagnose and repair forklift electrical systems (12V–80V).
Repair electrical motors, including teardown and rebuild.
Repair safety lights, horns, switches, and wiring systems.
Brake Systems
Diagnose and repair brake systems.
Replace brake shoes, pads, wheel cylinders, master cylinders, and wet brake components.
Preventive Maintenance
Perform scheduled maintenance services including:
Engine oil and filter changes
Transmission servicing
Hydraulic system servicing
Air, fuel, and hydraulic filter replacement
Brake adjustments
Mast chain measurements, adjustments, and replacement
Safety and performance inspections
Tires and Wheels
Remove and install tires and wheels.
Service wheel bearings through cleaning, inspection, and lubrication.
Steering Systems
Diagnose and repair steering components including:
Tie rods
Steering knuckles
Hydraulic steering cylinders
Steering columns
Steering hoses and valves
Equipment Inspections
Perform annual and quarterly inspections on aerial lifts and scissor lifts.
Powertrain Repairs
Diagnosing and repair:
Engines
Transmissions
Transfer cases
PTO systems
Perform maintenance and component replacement such as:
Water pumps
Alternators
Starters
Tune-ups
Field Service
Travel to customer locations to perform repairs and maintenance.
Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
High School Diploma or GED required.
Technical school certification or associate degree preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills.
Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics.
Basic computer and internet proficiency.
Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills.
Ability to diagnose and solve complex equipment issues independently.
Licenses & Certifications
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
Physical Requirements
The physical demands described below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position:
Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and stretching.
Ability to work in confined spaces, under equipment, and in elevated positions.
Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of parts and equipment weighing up to 80 pounds.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Exposure to dirt, dust, grease, fumes, noise, and temperature fluctuations.
Ability to safely use personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, steel-toe boots, and protective clothing.
Work Environment
Technicians work in both shop and field environments and may be exposed to:
Inclement weather conditions
Loud noises
Mechanical hazards
Electrical systems
Chemicals and lubricants
Heavy equipment and moving machinery
