The Director of Design & Construction at IU Health leads a high-impact portfolio of capital projects exceeding $600M annually. This role partners with Regional Directors to establish and maintain consistent standards across design, engineering, quality, cost, compliance, and safety. In close collaboration with senior leadership, the Director oversees the planning and execution of projects ranging from $10M to over $100M, while advancing delivery strategies to improve efficiency, quality, and overall value.

Operating in a dynamic, matrixed healthcare environment, this leader defines project scope, schedule, and budget, builds comprehensive roadmaps, and drives execution from concept through completion. The role requires strong collaboration with internal stakeholders—including clinical, academic, and operational teams—as well as external partners such as contractors, vendors, and community or government leaders to ensure alignment and successful outcomes.

This position calls for a strategic, hands-on leader who thrives in complexity, brings structure to ambiguity, and proactively mitigates financial and safety risks. The ideal candidate has a proven track record leading large-scale capital projects, excels in stakeholder management, and builds high-performing teams. Candidate Qualifications

Candidates for the position will be evaluated according to the following criteria and competencies.

  • Bachelor's degree is required. Master's degree is preferred. 
  • 7-10 years relevant experience is required. 
  • Requires experience managing complex programs/projects. 
  • Requires knowledge of state and federal laws relative to the assigned area. 
  • Must have an understanding of the health care market, and can effectively apply this knowledge to the benefit of the System and stated Regional objectives as they apply to facility related projects and studies.
