Role Description:
We are seeking an experienced HR Manager to serve as the Lead People Partner for Aderant’s Asia Pacific region (NZ, AU, IN). This role partners closely with business leaders to deliver effective people strategies, manage employee relations, and ensure compliance with regional employment laws.
You will lead and develop a small team, oversee onboarding and employee experience, and drive the regional execution of global People Team initiatives, including performance, engagement, L&D, and DEIB programs. This is a hands-on role requiring a balance of strategic insight and operational execution, with a strong focus on using data and technology to continuously improve people practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, coach, and develop two (2) direct reports (Office Coordinators) – setting clear goals, providing regular feedback, and building team capability.
Act as the Lead People Partner and trusted advisor to the APA region, supporting the delivery of business objectives through effective people practices.
Own all employee relations matters across NZ, AU, and IN including investigations, grievances, disciplinary processes, and restructuring.
Advise and coach managers on performance management, employment law compliance, and people best practices across Aderant’s APA jurisdictions.
Champion end-to-end onboarding for APA new starters, from pre-start logistics to 90-day integration, with a consistently exceptional experience.
Drive core People Team processes across APA, including communications, recruitment support, onboarding, performance management, L&D initiatives, and DEIB programs as the regional voice.
Lead the regional execution of global People Team programs and initiatives – including engagement and social events, recognition, learning and development, and DEIB - ensuring local relevance and effectiveness.
Regularly and proactively leverage data and insights (e.g., attrition, compensation, engagement) to support business leaders, inform decisions, and address trends within the region.
Administer HRIS, leave, payroll inputs, and compliance records in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 and equivalent legislation.
Partner with your team to manage day-to-day facilities for the Auckland, Sydney, and Hyderabad offices: vendor relationships, WHS compliance, space planning, and office operations.
Monitor and interpret legislative changes across NZ, AU and IN; keep policies current and compliant.
Drive continuous improvement across People Team processes and ways of working, with a genuine expectation to leverage AI tools and technology to enhance efficiency, reduce manual effort, and elevate the employee experience.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; HR certification (e.g., HRNZ, SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR) preferred.
5 - 7 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2 years in a people management role (directly managing HR or operations staff).
Broad, hands-on experience across HR disciplines, with the ability to operate both strategically and operationally.
Deep expertise in AU and NZ employment law. Exposure to Indian labor law is a strong advantage.
Proven track record managing complex ER matters: personal grievances, disciplinary processes, and restructuring.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare executive-ready materials and deliver training sessions.
Strong consulting and coaching skills with the ability to influence and guide senior leaders, managers, and peers across a global and matrixed environment.
Ability to analyze and interpret people data and use insights to inform decisions, measure effectiveness, and drive improvements.
Proficient with HRIS systems (Workday strongly preferred, PayGlobal, UKG) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel).
Effective cross-functional partnership and collaboration skills, with the ability to co-create and drive adoption of enterprise-wide initiatives.
Comfortable managing ambiguity and change in a fast-paced, evolving environment, with a proactive approach to problem solving and continuous learning.
Experience in a technology or SaaS environment preferred.
