Team Lead – Environmental & Linen Services
Role Summary
Serves as a working supervisor responsible for coordinating daily operations of the Environmental Services (EVS) and Linen Services departments. Ensures a clean, safe, and compliant hospital environment across patient care, clinical, public, and office areas. Acts as the shift leader in the absence of management while actively performing housekeeping and floor care duties.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Coordination
- Lead and supervise EVS and linen staff during assigned shifts
- Assign daily workloads and adjust staffing based on operational needs
- Conduct shift start-up, check-in/check-out, and end-of-shift debriefings
- Serve as acting supervisor in the absence of management
- Promote Trinity Health Culture
Operations Management
- Coordinate daily production schedules and ensure timely task completion
- Manage staff assignments, reassignments, and coverage gaps
- Respond to and resolve service calls and operational issues
- Track and maintain accountability of departmental equipment (keys, pagers, etc.)
Environmental & Linen Services Oversight
- Ensure all hospital areas meet cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards
- Oversee collection, cleaning, and distribution of hospital linens
- Maintain adequate linen inventory and minimize loss/waste
- Assist with and perform:
- General housekeeping duties (Environmentalist I)
- Floor care and project work (Environmentalist II)
- Operate and supervise the use of motorized cleaning equipment
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure adherence to:
- Infection control standards
- JCAHO regulations
- HIPAA guidelines
- Medical and solid waste handling procedures
- Monitor proper use of cleaning chemicals and safety protocolsQualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
Certifications
- Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) (preferred within 1 year)
Experience
- Minimum:
- 1+ year hospital EVS experience
- Experience with cleaning equipment and chemicals
- Preferred:
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience
- Background in healthcare, hospitality, or related service industries
