The DBaaS (Database-as-a-Service) department provides secure, self-service, and cost-effective database platforms for Microsoft SQL Server, MariaDB, and Oracle technologies. The team supports the full database lifecycle, including automation, security, compliance, tooling, and operations.
The organization operates in a global “follow-the-sun” model, with teams located in Sydney, Bangalore, Munich, Nice, Miami, and Bogotá, enabling collaboration across regions and ensuring continuous service availability.
Summary of the Role
As a Manager – Oracle / Security Operations, you will contribute to the reliability, performance, and security of the Oracle database platform that supports critical applications.
You will collaborate with global Oracle technology teams, Software Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams, and product stakeholders to improve database operations and user experience.
This role also includes supporting team members, contributing to operational excellence, and participating in the evolution of the DBaaS strategy.
Major Responsibilities & Expectations
Support the stability, availability, and compliance (e.g., PCI-DSS, SOC, ISO 27001 standards) of the Oracle database platform, including incident management and on-call coordination
Plan and support deployment of database clusters for large-scale workloads, ensuring reliability and high availability across environments
Collaborate with DBaaS operations, development, and product teams to improve automation, tooling, and overall database performance
Guide and support team members, contributing to team growth, engagement, and knowledge sharing
Contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives within the DBaaS organization
Relevant Job Experiences
Experience working in software operations within a business-critical or high-availability environment
Experience leading or supporting team delivery
Qualification
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
Certifications in databases or programming are beneficial
Know how / skills
Experience supporting production database workloads in enterprise environments
Knowledge of Agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues
Experience collaborating across teams in multicultural and global environments
Experience with Oracle databases (e.g., 19c or newer) in Linux environments; familiarity with MySQL, automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Python, shell scripting), or cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure is beneficial
