Available Position: Senior Appraiser
POSITION SCOPE
The Senior Appraiser works within the machinery & equipment appraisal division of GA Advisory and Valuation Services. This division performs appraisals of various companies for its clients and delivers appraisal reports as the finished product. The assets being appraised are fixed assets (not real estate or inventory). The clients use these appraisal reports to do things such as make lending decisions or to satisfy accounting requirements. The companies that are the subject of the appraisals are typically manufacturers or service providers. The clients are primarily lenders but include private equity groups or even the subject companies.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform at a high level in a Lead Appraiser role with the capacity of managing all steps of the appraisal process across a wide variety of industries
- Demonstrate effective BDO (Business Development Officer), Company and Client communication in delivering appraisal guidance and/or industry overviews
- Conduct research directly with used machinery dealers
- Actively participate in the development of liquidation value timeframes and liquidation/net expenses
- Work directly with Appraisers at all levels, while regularly managing a team in large appraisal assignments and coordinating workflow efficiently
- Provide regular feedback to the valuation team post project review
- Review appraisal projects with Managing Senior Appraisers
- Transition from responding to only project specific topics to understanding what impacts the business on a larger scale o Continue active participation in the ASA American Society of Appraisers and achieve Accredited Senior Appraiser status
- Actively mentor and assist in training Associate, Senior Associate, and Appraisers
- Expected timeframe within this position is 2 - 4 years
Education, Experience, and Skills:
- High school diploma, related vocational and/or technical training preferred
- Minimum 7-10 years’ experience as an Appraiser
- Up to date with USPAP
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- Detail-oriented, accuracy, ability to effectively manage time, and strong organizational skills
- Demonstrated proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Office applications, as well as other office software products in a Windows environment
- Proficiency with Internet use and website application
- Ability to work under minimal supervision
- In-depth knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures with ability to use in varied situations
- Must have understanding of basic safety procedures in a manufacturing environment and knowledge of the basics of a variety of manufacturing processes
