Job Description

Role : VMware Administrator

Location : San Francisco, CA

Duration : Fulltime

Experience Required: 9+ years (Datacenter)

Key skills: VMware administration, ITIL, VMware High availability, VMware vMotion, SAN, NAS and vCenter SRM

Technical Certification:

· VCP-DCV required/VCAP Desired

· VCP-cloud/MCTS/MCITP/MCSA/MCSE would be additional advantage

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Track Lead / Team Lead

Ensuring that the processes are adhered to

Ensure maximum uptime according to the SLA

Handling tickets / requests

Monitoring and mentoring junior team members

Creating PoC and UAT environment

Identifying and suggesting implementation of new technologies/products for enhancement

Identify Skill gaps and plan for training / knowledge updating

Helping team members in case of Issues/Technical Problems

Knowledge of ITIL best practice on incident management, change management and problem management


Technical Skills Required:

· Experience in Datacenter management

· Experience in Install, configure and upgrade ESX/ESXi 3.x/4.x/5.x hosts

· Proficiency in VMware High-Availability, DRS, vMotion, Storage vMotion, DRS, vCenter, DVS and vCenter Update Manager

· Knowledge in host profiles for building ESX/ESXi Host cluster

· Performance monitoring and reporting for the compute, storage and network resources

· vCenter based warning and alert management

· Experience in scripted automation and management tools like vMA, vCLI and vSphere PCLI

· Troubleshooting and root cause analysis for the escalated issues

· Design & Implementation of new Virtual Infrastructure and consolidation of P2V Migration

· Knowledge in vCenter convertor and Plate spin tools

· High Availability & DR testing and creating the DR design /process documents

· Experience in vCenter SRM is preferable

· Experience in OEM hardware (IBM/HP) & remote connectivity tools like ILO/DRAC/RSA

· Experience in Capacity planning, Resource Utilization and Bottleneck reporting. i.e. Capacity Planner/vCOPS

· Knowledge in VSAN and tools like VM Turbo and Veeam will be added advantage

· Create backup, restore and security Policies. Setup Monitoring and Operations process and tools for the DC and DR setup

· Defining user roles and permission in vCenter, based on the level of access required

· Planning Backup/Restore strategy for 24x7 operation support

· Testing / Auditing/processes as required from time to time

· Suggesting patches/upgrades to maintain security level

· Work independently and as a member of a team of consultants on engagements with customers, often in a technical leadership role

· Document best practices in developing and deploying VMware solutions and upload in the knowledge base for reuse by customers and partners

· Proven experience with IT automation systems (BMC, HP, IBM/Tivoli, CA)

· Hardware : Hands on Servers ( HP/DELL/HP/IBM)

· Participate in the pre-sales process to understand customer business and technical objectives and product requirements in order to develop effective solutions

· Provide architectural guidance and oversight into integration of VMware products with third party products within the customer’s IT environment: Storage, networking, systems management capacity management and monitoring, high availability solutions and security infrastructures
