Job Description
A Technical Delivery Lead (TDL) bridges the gap between software engineering and project management. They are responsible for driving the execution of complex technology projects, ensuring technical teams deliver high-quality solutions on time, within scope, and aligned with broader business objectives.
1. Technical Leadership & Oversight
Solution Design: Provide hands-on technical guidance, review architectural decisions, and evaluate technical approaches proposed by developers.
Engineering Best Practices: Champion continuous improvement by overseeing engineering practices such as code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.
Technical Debt & Risk Management: Identify potential system dependencies, mitigate technical roadblocks, and manage technical debt proactively.
2. Project Delivery & Execution
Planning & Estimation: Work with engineering and product teams to translate business requirements into technically feasible project plans and realistic resource estimates.
Milestone Tracking: Oversee day-to-day project progress, track milestones, and manage releases, deployments, and change management.
Quality Assurance: Ensure the final deliverables meet established engineering quality standards and functional requirements.
3. Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Management
Stakeholder Alignment: Act as a central point of contact, providing clear status updates and delivery metrics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Vendor & Team Coordination: Coordinate activities across multiple teams, departments, or third-party vendors to ensure cohesive solution delivery.
Impediment Removal: Remove roadblocks and foster a transparent, self-organizing culture within the team.
- Bachelor's Degree: Typically in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field
- Lead Roles: 5+ years of demonstrated experience in a Technical Delivery Lead, Tech Lead, or Solutions Delivery role.
- Stakeholder Management: Experience communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and leadership.
- Agile & Scrum Methodologies: Deep understanding of Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban) and tools like Jira or Trello.
- Technical Proficiency: Ability to oversee system integrations, architecture planning, and deployment pipelines.
- Conflict Resolution: Strong ability to negotiate, handle resource bottlenecks, and mitigate risks.
