
Business Development Specialist
Job Description
We are seeking a Business Development Specialist who is ready to roll up their sleeves and drive top-line growth in a fast-moving small business environment. This individual will be a strategic hunter—identifying, shaping, and pursuing new opportunities within the federal marketplace, with a strong emphasis on DoD, DHS, and Intelligence Community sectors.
- Develop and execute targeted growth strategies aligned with Mission One’s core capabilities and federal priorities.
- Identify and qualify new business opportunities through market research, relationship building, and competitive intelligence.
- Lead capture efforts from opportunity identification through proposal development, partnering closely with leadership.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government customers, primes, and teaming partners.
- Support proposal strategy, solution shaping, and pricing strategies in collaboration with internal SMEs.
- Monitor and track relevant contracting vehicles (e.g., SAM.gov, GWACs, IDIQs, OTAs) to ensure strategic positioning.
- Represent Mission One at industry events, conferences, and networking engagements to expand visibility and brand equity.
- Contribute to pipeline development, forecasting, and CRM tracking to enable data-driven decision-making.
- 3+ years of business development, capture management, or proposal experience within the defense or federal contracting ecosystem.
- Demonstrated track record of identifying, qualifying, and winning new business.
- Strong understanding of federal acquisition processes and government contracting.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to operate effectively in a lean, fast-paced small business environment.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
- Existing relationships within DoD, DHS, or Intelligence Community.
- Experience working with SDVOSB, 8(a), HUBZone, or other set-aside programs.
- Prior experience supporting proposal development (technical or pricing).
- Active security clearance or ability to obtain one.
- Familiarity with federal contracting platforms such as SAM.gov, GovWin, or FPDS.
