Supervises: N/A
Location: Seattle Goodwill Admin Building
FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Hourly Rate: $21.30 - $24.50, depending on experience
About the Position
The Facilities Technician I supports daily operations and is primarily responsible for maintaining the safety, appearance, and functionality of Evergreen Goodwill stores, properties, grounds, and equipment. This role will have a stronger emphasis on grounds and exterior maintenance while still performing general building and equipment upkeep as needed.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Grounds & Exterior Maintenance
Maintain landscaped areas: mow, edge, weed, trim shrubs, prune trees, and maintain mulch and planting beds.
Perform seasonal grounds tasks: leaf removal, snow shoveling/ice control, seasonal plantings, and irrigation checks.
Maintain exterior cleanliness: pick up trash, sweep sidewalks and parking lots, remove debris, clean gutters and drains, power wash building exteriors, and empty exterior receptacles.
Repair and maintain outdoor hardscapes: walkways, curbs, fences, signage, and exterior lighting.
Operate grounds equipment: mowers, trimmers, leaf blowers, small tractors, snow removal equipment, and other power tools safely and responsibly.
Monitor and maintain exterior safety: report and address trip hazards, lighting outages, and other site issues.
Building & Equipment Maintenance
Perform general building repairs: install light bulbs/ballasts, replace fixtures, hang pictures, assemble furniture, install countertops, tile, carpet, and bulletin boards.
Basic electrical and HVAC support: maintain/replace light fixtures, receptacles, switches, and perform minor HVAC filter changes and basic troubleshooting (non-licensed electrical work only).
Plumbing repairs: replace washers, faucets, seals; repair leaks; clear clogs; install/repair toilets.
Painting: interior and exterior surface preparation and painting.Basic welding/metal work as needed (MIG, oxy-acetylene, TIG).
Operate light vehicles and equipment: work vans, forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and towing equipment.
Safety, Inventory & Customer Service
Maintain tools and equipment in safe, clean, working condition; perform routine inspections.
Demonstrate safe work practices; report hazards, incidents, or unusual occurrences promptly.
Assist in managing maintenance inventory: supplies, parts, and materials; complete timely expense and supply reports.
Provide courteous customer service to internal and external customers and notify management of any property damage or safety concerns.
Complete monthly maintenance tasks such as HVAC filter inspection/replacement.
Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED or technical training certificate or equivalent experience.
Preferred minimum 6 months or more experience or equivalent training.
Basic understanding of maintenance work, tools and equipment.
Ability to demonstrate professionalism and work independently. Has strong mechanical aptitude.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team repairing items and processing work orders.
Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations:
Must have valid WA State driver’s license and proof of good driving record.
Tools: Evergreen Goodwill provides tools and supplies necessary to complete essential functions and projects.
Computer/Technology Skills:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
Ability to learn new technology and software as related to the job.
Physical Abilities:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds; have developed fine motor control (grasp, handle, manipulate objects with fingers; standing for long periods, frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, stooping, squatting, pushing; climbing ladders; able to travel across a variety of surfaces (stairs, ramps, uneven terrain). Ability to operate computer systems. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Able to communicate with others effectively both verbally and written, including those who have limited English skills. Maintain reliable attendance.

Work Environment: Varying temperatures and noise levels. Exposure to chemicals and industrial hazards and dust. Workers must follow safety precautions and use protective equipment such as hardhats, safety glasses and hearing protectors. Must be able to work a flexible schedule as position requires on call status, night shifts and weekends as required. Must have reliable transportation.
