About the Practice
The Corewell Health Lakeshore OBGYN Practice includes office locations in Hudsonville, Zeeland, Holland, and Grand Haven. We are a growing team consisting of 6 Physicians, 3 Certified Nurse Midwives and 4 Nurse Practitioners. Our team is committed to providing comprehensive Obstetrical and Gynecologic care to patients in West Michigan. We take immense pride in the strong relationships we build with our patients, their families, and our colleagues, fostering a supportive and compassionate environment. Our support staff is composed of 5 registered nurses, 14 medical assistants, 4 sonographers and 3 patient service representatives. Each member of our team plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our practice and the delivery of high-quality care.
About Outpatient Clinics
Corewell Health operates over 300 outpatient clinics across Michigan, bringing a multitude of care options to the communities that we serve. There are over 40 different types of primary care and specialty practices, which allows those who work in these clinics the opportunity to learn and explore various interests or to specialize in one area.
Scope of work
The Medical Assistant (MA) in the OB/GYN office provides clinical and administrative support to physicians, midwives, and advanced practice providers to ensure efficient patient care delivery. This role involves direct patient care, including rooming patients, obtaining vital signs and medical histories, assisting with examinations and procedures, and performing basic clinical tasks such as specimen collection and point-of-care testing.
The MA also supports care coordination by managing patient flow, documenting in the electronic medical record, coordinating referrals, scheduling, and responding to patient inquiries. Strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to support patients through sensitive reproductive and women’s health concerns are essential.
The ideal candidate demonstrates compassion, professionalism, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining patient confidentiality and delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent Required
- Successful completion of a hands-on competency-based medical assistant training program Required
- 1 year of relevant experience in a physician practice or healthcare setting Preferred
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Required within 90 Days
- One of the following Required within 120 Days
- AAMA Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
- AMT Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
- NHA Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA)
- NCCT Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
- NAHP Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA)
