Position Overview:
The Senior Director of Cloud Data Platform & Architecture will serve as the strategic leader responsible for architecting, developing, and managing the enterprise cloud data platform. This role oversees a team of cloud data engineers, architects, and analysts, setting cloud strategies, data best practices, and delivering scalable analytics solutions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate deep expertise in Microsoft Azure and Databricks, with a track record driving business transformation through the innovative use of cloud technologies and advanced analytics platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and execute cloud data platform strategy, roadmaps, and architecture in alignment with business objectives and technology vision.
- Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of data platforms using Azure (Data Lake, Synapse, Data Factory, SQL, etc.) and Databricks.
- Establish standards for data modeling, integration, ETL/ELT pipelines, and workflow orchestration.
- Lead L1, L2 support, Administration, and data quality processes.
- Collaborate with business units, data stewards, and IT stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver robust solutions.
- Stay current with industry trends in cloud, big data, and advanced analytics.
- Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performance team of cloud engineers, architects, and analysts.
- Set and measure KPIs for data platform maturity, performance, cost optimization, reliability, and scalability.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
- 12+ years in data engineering, platform architecture, or analytics, with 5+ years in a leadership capacity.
- Proven experience architecting and operating data platforms on Microsoft Azure, including Azure Data Lake, Synapse Analytics, Data Factory, and related technologies.
- Expertise with Databricks (Delta Lake, Spark, Python, data pipelines, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience with data governance, data cataloging, metadata management, and data security best practices.
- Strong understanding of modern analytics, BI tools, and machine learning workflows. (PowerBI / Tableau / AI/BI Preferred)
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to partner with senior executives and technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, finance)
- Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, DABS)
- Familiarity with DevOps for data platforms
