Position Summary

The performance engineering team provides enterprise wide performance testing capabilities to measure non-functional performance requirements of applications including, but not limited to, development of performance strategy, test script development, test execution coordination, and report generation and interpretation. The application performance architect must have advanced knowledge of performance testing tools such as Microfocus (HP) Loadrunner, Tricentis Neoload, Jmeter, and Gremlin for resiliency testing. The architect should have extensive experience with various monitoring tools for Application Performance Monitoring (APM), Log aggregation, and Profiling. Additionally, the architect should be able to review and provide feedback on application architecture and application integration between middle and backend services.  Familiarity with DevOps principles and tools such as Source Code Management (GitHub), Continuous Integration (Jenkins), and Continuous deployment (Udeploy and Ansible) are also within the scope of an architect. Lastly, the ability to partner with product vendors, applications teams, and other support teams to resolve issues and achieve organizational goals are fulfilled through this role.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions

• Work with development and performance leaderships to assess testing needs and define a performance test strategy
• Identify gaps in team member skillsets and highlight training opportunities
• Build and present performance testing roadmap
• Define and knowledge transfer performance test script development best practices
• Define and interpret application and infrastructure key performance indicators (KPIs) and monitoring tools in collaboration with delivery teams
• Evaluate performance / resiliency testing tools and provide guidance on leveraging such tools in an enterprise environment
• Triage the cause for failed performance tests and lower test failure occurrence rate
• Enable developers to self-service early performance testing (shift-left)
• Develop reports and present to leadership on progress in performance test strategy
• Knowledgeable in performance testing various cloud implementation (software as a service (Saas) systems, platform as a service (Paas), and function as a service (Faas)
• Lead Proof of Concepts (POCs) including working with application teams, consultant firms, and product vendors
• Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodology
• Familiar with health Insurance industry and regulatory requirements
• Partner with application development and production support leaders
• Engage in capacity planning discussions, forecasting, and architecture design

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred or equivalent work experience.
