Special Education Teacher

Iowa Park High School is seeking a certified Special Education teacher for grades 9-12 with the following qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (master's degree preferred)
• Valid state teaching certification in Special Education (required)
• Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including cognitive, developmental, and physical disabilities
• Knowledge of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and ability to develop, implement, and monitor goals, and ARD documentation,
• Familiarity with functional life skills instruction, including daily living, vocational, and social skills training
• Ability to manage and operate a Functional Living Center (FLC), including organizing hands-on, real-world learning environments
• Experience with behavior management strategies and positive behavior interventions
• Strong collaboration skills to work with paraprofessionals, therapists, and general education staff
• Effective communication skills for working with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Commitment to student safety, dignity, and promoting independence
• Ability to collect and analyze student data to inform instruction and track progress

• Willingness to coordinate community-based instruction and transition planning for post-secondary outcomes

   

  Preferred but not required:  Certified in high school English and/or high school math.
