Job Description
Iowa Park High School is seeking a certified Special Education teacher for grades 9-12 with the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (master's degree preferred)
- Valid state teaching certification in Special Education (required)
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including cognitive, developmental, and physical disabilities
- Knowledge of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and ability to develop, implement, and monitor goals, and ARD documentation,
- Familiarity with functional life skills instruction, including daily living, vocational, and social skills training
- Ability to manage and operate a Functional Living Center (FLC), including organizing hands-on, real-world learning environments
- Experience with behavior management strategies and positive behavior interventions
- Strong collaboration skills to work with paraprofessionals, therapists, and general education staff
- Effective communication skills for working with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to student safety, dignity, and promoting independence
- Ability to collect and analyze student data to inform instruction and track progress
Willingness to coordinate community-based instruction and transition planning for post-secondary outcomes
Preferred but not required: Certified in high school English and/or high school math.
