Job Description

Key responsibilities of a Night Care Assistant:

  • Night-time reassurance: Providing a calming presence for clients who may feel anxious, confused or lonely during the night.
  • Bedtime and morning routines: Assisting with evening winding-down (undressing, washing) and helping the client start their day with dignity in the morning.
  • Personal care: Supporting with bathroom visits and personal hygiene throughout the night, ensuring the client's comfort and skin integrity.
  • Medication support: Assisting with evening or early morning medication reminders.
  • Monitoring and safety: Keeping a watchful eye on clients with specialised needs, such as those living with Dementia, to prevent falls and nocturnal incidents.
  • Light housekeeping: During quieter moments (for waking nights), performing light housekeeping tasks to ensure the home is tidy and prepared for the client's morning.

We don't look for a specific qualification, but for a Night Care Assistant; experience in care is preferred. To be a good fit for our night team, you should be:

  • A natural caregiver: You have a big heart and a genuine desire to help others feel safe.
  • Dependable: Reliability is crucial for night care; our clients and their families rely on you to be there when the world is asleep.
  • Observant and patient: You can spot small changes in a client's well-being and provide a patient, soothing response to nighttime confusion.
  • Professional and trustworthy: You are comfortable working independently in a client's home while maintaining the highest standards of care.

Home Instead is committed to being the employer of choice in care, and our office has recently been awarded a 5 Star Employer status from WorkBuzz. By joining us, you receive:

  • Competitive night rates: We value the dedication it takes to work through the night.
  • Flexible scheduling: Night shifts that can work around your daytime commitments.
  • Award-winning training: Access to City & Guilds assured training, including specialist modules in Dementia and End of Life.
  • Comprehensive support: Even at 3 am, you are never alone. Our team provides a robust support system and 24/7 on-call support.
  • Well-being and benefits: Access to our Employee Assistance Programme, pension schemes and career progression opportunities.

If you want to spend your working hours making a real difference and helping us change the face of ageing, we would love to hear from you.
