About the Role:

The Banquet Houseman plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation and success of banquet events by providing essential support in setup, maintenance, and breakdown of event spaces. This position is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, organizing banquet equipment, and assisting the banquet team to deliver an exceptional guest experience. The Banquet Houseman works closely with banquet servers, supervisors, and other staff to ensure that all event requirements are met efficiently and professionally. Attention to detail and a proactive approach are critical to managing the physical environment and responding promptly to the dynamic needs of banquet functions. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to the overall reputation and operational excellence of the hospitality venue by supporting seamless event execution.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, standing for extended periods, and moving equipment.
  • Basic understanding of safety and sanitation standards in a hospitality environment.
  • Strong work ethic with reliability and punctuality.
  • Effective communication skills to work collaboratively with team members.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in banquet or event support roles within the hospitality industry.
  • Familiarity with banquet service procedures and event setup standards.
  • Certification in food safety or hospitality-related training.
  • Ability to operate basic cleaning equipment and tools.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in setting up banquet rooms according to event specifications, including arranging tables, chairs, linens, and equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of banquet areas before, during, and after events, including trash removal and floor care.
  • Support banquet servers by replenishing supplies such as glassware, silverware, and condiments throughout events.
  • Break down and reset banquet rooms promptly after events to prepare for subsequent functions or daily operations.
  • Collaborate with the banquet team to ensure timely and efficient service delivery and respond to any immediate needs during events.

Skills:

The Banquet Houseman utilizes physical stamina and organizational skills daily to efficiently set up and break down event spaces, ensuring all equipment and supplies are correctly placed and maintained. Communication skills are essential for coordinating with banquet servers and supervisors to meet event timelines and guest needs. Attention to detail is applied in maintaining cleanliness and order, which directly impacts guest satisfaction and safety. Problem-solving skills help in quickly addressing unexpected challenges during events, such as equipment shortages or layout adjustments.
