The Project
The ACCIONA-led consortium known as the Alkimos SeaWater Alliance will design, build, operate and maintain the future Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant in Perth for ten years. The Stage 1 design and construct project is scheduled to deliver drinking water in 2028, as part of an overall Water Corporation program of works valued at AU$2.8 billion
Alkimos Water Precinct - will help the region manage the combination of declining rainfall and population growth. Since 1970, winter rainfall in southwest Western Australia has decreased by about 20 per cent while Perth’s population - currently 2.12 million - is expected to reach 2.9 million by 2031 and 3.5 million by 2050, making it Australia’s third largest city and significantly increasing the demand for drinking water.
About the opportunity:
The Senior Project Manager – M&E leads the end-to-end delivery of complex infrastructure projects, with a strong focus on mechanical and electrical systems integration. The role ensures effective coordination across engineering, design, planning, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning activities in line with ACCIONA standards and industry best practices.
Responsible for overseeing project scope, budgets, schedules, and resource allocation, the Senior Project Manager drives the successful delivery of M&E packages, ensuring systems are installed, integrated, and commissioned safely, compliantly, and to the highest quality standards.
The role ensures alignment between civil, structural, and M&E disciplines to support seamless project execution. Leading multidisciplinary teams and managing key stakeholder relationships, the Senior Project Manager promotes clear communication, proactive risk identification, and effective issue resolution.
The position maintains rigorous project controls, accurate documentation, and reporting, while ensuring all M&E works meet safety, environmental, quality, time, and commercial performance objectives.
Key Responsibilities

Required Skills and Competencies
- Bachelor degree in Engineering or equivalent
- 15+ years' management experience in delivery of major infrastructure projects
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams on large and complex Tier 1 projects
- Fluent in the Microsoft Office suite proficiency in Excel and Project essential
- Strong communications skills with capacity to engage senior engineers, clients and community stakeholders
- Commercial acumen with experience navigating contract requirements, deliverables and change Processes
- Ability to develop scopes of work, delivery plans, design schedules and resource forecast.
