What’s the role
As a Project Environmental Advisor, you will deliver Impact Assessments (integrated Biophysical, Social and Health), and other required Environmental Studies and provide discipline support and assurance to GHG / Energy Efficiency Management delivery in Projects in SciN.
What you’ll be doing
You will support project teams in delivering Impact Assessments (IAs), Biological Monitoring (BMs), Environmental Evaluation Studies (EES), critical habitat assessments, Biodiversity Action Plans (BAPs), and other environmental studies required for the Deep Water (DW) business, while securing timely regulatory approvals. Provides expert advice and support for the execution and implementation of environmental studies, including interpretation of regulatory requirements and their implications. Responsible for delivering greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions data recording and reporting for projects, driving the implementation of GHG abatement initiatives, and managing the overall GHG emissions reduction framework across projects.
Lead cradle-to-grave cycle planning for Impact Assessments (IAs), Environmental Evaluation Studies (EES), Biological Monitoring (BMs) and special environmental studies, driving delivery of baseline, IA, PIA, ESI, and other studies in compliance with Shell standards, local regulations, and international specifications
Coordinate delivery of high-quality environmental studies, ensure proper application of study processes, liaise with regulators for approvals, and manage regulatory site visits and stakeholder consultations
Facilitate quality scoping workshops and stakeholder participation, while liaising with regulators to interpret environmental regulations
Facilitate regulatory engagements with key external stakeholders on Environmental studies and GHG Energy management plans.
Provide quality, cost-effective environmental input to corporate ORP, secure timely regulatory approvals and permits, and develop Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) aligned with project design, HEMP/HAZID processes, and environmental study outcomes
Ensure application of evolving regulatory requirements and industry best practices, raise environmental awareness, maintain environmental studies databases with Geomatics, and contribute to the development of standards, procedures, manuals, and guidelines
Mentor junior engineers to build environmental assessment capabilities and deliver annual Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and Energy Efficiency (EE) management plans in line with Shell standards
Coordinate establishment of energy baselines and GHG & EE databases, conduct audits/surveys to identify energy-saving opportunities, recommend solutions, perform techno-economic evaluations, and support implementation of best practices and improvement tools
Generate GHG emissions and energy consumption forecasts, develop performance dashboards, monitor and report progress of GHG & EE plans, oversee impacts for new projects, incorporate lessons learned, and benchmark performance internally and externally to recommend targets
What you bring
Degree in science or engineering
7 years’ experience. Postgraduate qualification or professional certifications will be an added advantage.
5 years’ experience in Environment management
Previous exposure to Environmental studies, Research and Development are required.
Delivered numerous IA studies end to end.
Good understanding of stakeholder management.
Good understanding of GHG management and appreciation of the IA process including regulatory process.
Experienced in data analysis, project management techniques, including business planning and evaluation.
Understand the values of C02 & GHG management to the business
Very knowledgeable in customer intimacy & environmental ecological processes
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
