The Lead CASA Coordinator will participate in the planning and developing of new CASA staff training and orientation, perform as a mentor to support the performance and development of CASA staff, assist with program and workload coordination, coordinate various program reports and projects, coordinate and lead community recruitment events and efforts to recruit community members to volunteer with Pima County CASA Program. The CASA Lead will strategize planning and implementation, and perform duties of a CASA Coordinator including, but not limited to, recruiting, selecting, training, and supervising the work of volunteers to serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates and Peer Coordinators. The CASA Coordinators are responsible for cultivating and maintaining professional intra- and inter-agency relationships, as well as providing community education and awareness of the CASA Program.Job Description

Upon the yearly anniversary, 56 hours of accrued sick time, less usage, may be rolled over to vacation time.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
This is a classified position that reports to the CASA Program manager. This position performs duties under general supervision and has lead responsibilities for the work over other CASA staff.

Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a behavioral/social science, business, law, public administration, or a related field and three (3) years of professional work experience. Related work experience includes the fields of social work, criminal or juvenile justice, mental or behavioral health. OR any equivalent combination of experience, training and/ or education approved by Human Resources.
Preferred Qualifications:
An ideal candidate for the CASA Lead position will have:
- Experience managing and overseeing complex programs, particularly in the non-profit and/or child welfare sectors including experience in resource allocation, program evaluation, and strategic planning.
- Experience with volunteer coordination including recruiting, screening, training, and managing volunteers.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills and the capacity to inspire, motivate and effectively manage a diverse team to foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly to a wide range of stakeholders, including volunteers, staff and community partners.

Essential Duties & Functions:
- Acts as the CASA Supervisor in the CASA Manager’s absence or as appropriate.
- Leads and monitors the work of CASA staff, as assigned. Serves as a resource for CASA staff to resolve issues relating to assigned caseload related issues.
- Coordinates the assignment of cases among CASA Coordinators with the program along with the CASA Manager, and may assign new volunteers to CASA Program Coordinators.
- Develops, recommends, and implements training strategies and programs for CASA staff. Provides mentoring and feedback to Coordinators and CASA staff.
- Provides guidance and direction to CASA staff during their training until they reach a level of competence.
- Performs duties and essential functions of a CASA Coordinator including managing an assigned caseload of CASA volunteers.
- Provides input to the CASA Program Manager on the work performance of CASA staff and CASA volunteers.
- Builds and maintains positive relationships with community partners, organizations and stakeholders.
- Coordinates the recruitment and outreach process to encourage community members to participate in the Pima County CASA Program.
- Develops, coordinates, and implements public relations, marketing and social media strategies to increase program visibility and volunteer engagement.
- Represents the CASA Program through a variety of methods such as community events, presentations, resource fairs, external training sessions, and private speaking engagements.
- Designs and composes communications and/or outreach materials including correspondence and flyers.
- Delivers and models exemplary customer service and effective communication, while supporting a collaborative, mission driven work environment. Provides professional and timely assistance to all individuals connected to or inquiring about the CASA Program.
- Adheres to CASA Program’s administrative policies and assures program compliance with Pima County Juvenile Court (PCJCC) and Administrative Office of the Court (AOC) policies and procedures. Assists in assessing, updating, implementing, and maintaining policy, funding requirements, and/or program changes at the local and state level.
- Attends and participates in Juvenile Court, State-level CASA and Support Council meetings, committees, projects, or events as assigned.
- Compiles and provides required documentation and statistics, and develops monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as assigned.
- Works with Program Manager to address grant requirements, management of data, and reporting to various entities.
- Mediates and resolves complaints between Coordinators, CASA volunteers, provider agencies, and/or the Department of Child Safety.
- Participates in special projects and committees as assigned and leads the efforts of CASA staff as they participate in special projects and committees.
Additional Responsibilities/Duties:
- Assists CASA Manager in the continual development and tracking of performance measures for the program and staff.
- Provides guidance and assistance to CASA volunteers and applicants when needed.
- Participates in the volunteer onboarding, screening and training process as assigned.
- Assists with operational reviews and grant audits.
- Performs related duties and participates in projects as necessary.
- Participates in the planning and implementation of special events with staff and volunteers.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must have exemplary communication, project management, and time management skills.
- Must have knowledge of desktop computers, Microsoft Windows Office software and use of the Internet.
- Must have knowledge of various social media platforms and how to generate public awareness and attract potential volunteers through them.
- Must have skills in one or a combination of the following: public relations, marketing, event planning, training, adult education, delegation, public speaking, or performance coaching,
- Must have knowledge of business English, grammar, punctuation, spelling, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Must have the skills to prioritize, organize, conduct research, compile data, write and edit reports and maintain confidential files.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively and work successfully with a diversity of individuals, including court employees, peer coordinators, CASA advocates, members of the bench, attorneys, representatives from external agencies and socially, economically, and culturally diverse persons in the general public.
Licenses and Certificates:
Must possess a valid Arizona Driver License at the time of appointment.
Physical/Sensory Items:
- Participates in community recruitment events in addition to office work.
- Independently lifts, carries, and assembles recruitment/display equipment up to 60 lbs.
- Loads and unloads vehicles with bulky materials.
- Uses manual dexterity to assemble items such as pop up tents.
- Works outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Performs effectively amid frequent distractions, interruptions, and public activity.
- Multitasks while prioritizing public safety.
- Adapts quickly to sudden changes in surroundings.
